Forgive me - I know this question has been asked before but does anyone have a rec for a good family/adult dentist that takes Delta (in-network?).  Our dentist is no longer taking it and the last visit we had cost a ton!  Anywhere in the Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley area.  Thank you so much!

We have been happy with Dr Jabari at Wisteria Dentistry. She took over Dr Escalante’s practice upon his retirement. She is located at 901 Kearney St, El Cerrito (510)526-1381. Dr Jabari is very kind and thorough as is her staff. Highly recommend.

I use Dr. Forbes on Solano in Berkeley. I have had a good experience with them.

Dr. Claude Sidi, in San Francisco at 450 Sutter. He is not inexpensive, but he and his long-term support staff are all very very good. I have very bad teeth and very bad TMJ, and he has kept teeth in my mouth and created very durable and beautiful facsimile teeth as necessary. I appreciate his honesty - he tells me when he cannot do something for me and provides excellent referrals for Oral surgeons in the same building. This is important becasue I have had bad dentists who are overconfident in their abilities and who try to up-sell their services. Dr. Sidi IS an expert with a very high skill level, but he is also very very honest and respectful. His office also has a GREAT view of the cityscape from the 18th floor. I discovered him 17 years ago on BPN and he is our family dentist.  https://claudesidi.com/

  • Our wonderful dentist no longer accepts Delta, so we are looking. Good hands, calm manner for dentist-shy adults. Thanks

Dr. Cho's dental office in south Berkeley is wonderful, kind and accepts delta

Our dentists (pediatric and adult) both just dropped Delta. Why is everyone leaving??

Dr. Sharon Albright in Oakland accepts Delta and I’ve been going to her for a few years now. She’s friendly and does a good job. I haven’t had major dental work from her, only cleaning and a cavity fill. Hope this helps!

Ford Dental in El Cerrito has been our dental practice for 20 years. They are professional, and personal. And they accept Delta Dental.

Allen Dare, DDS,  2975 Telegraph Ave  (510) 845-3704  is my dentist and he accepts Delta Dental.  I have gone to him for about 10 years and recommend him.

  • Hi,

We have been with Aloha pediatric dentistry for almost 10 years and we love them, however they recently left Delta Dental and we are finding that we can't get reimbursed on our own so we are looking for a dentist for teens who accepts Delta Dental. Any recs?

    Thanks!

I like these this dentist and they except Delta. I’ve been going to them now for 17 years.

The adults in my family have been seeing Dr. Kobayashi in El Cerrito for years. My 9 year old also recently had to leave Aloha for the same reason and Dr. Kobayashi has been great for him as well. The office is modern, aesthetically pleasing and all the staff are great. They are also very responsive and accommodating if you ever have an urgent need. They do take Delta Dental.

Dr. Scott Levine takes adults and kids; we've been going to him for 17 years. My kids also like Dr. Nassiri at Solano Smile (dentist and ortho) and Dr. Nick Ching (pediatric dentist) www.kidsteethdoctor.com. All take Delta.

Allen Dare, (510 845 3704. in Berkeley near Alta Bates) has been taking care of my teeth for years.

  • Root canal with Delta Dental

    Sep 20, 2021

There is a small chance I will need a root canal in the near future. I have Delta Dental insurance. Can anyone recommend an experienced endodontist or dentist in the area who takes Delta Dental who does this? I live in Berkeley but am willing to travel to get the best care.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Carolyn Chong at Berkeley Endodontics (https://www.berkeleyendo.com). I've heard their other doctors are excellent, too. They accept Delta.

    Hi,

I have seen Dr. Cecchini at Berkeley Endodontics on Telegraph and Oregon twice for assessments on cracked teeth. She is very thorough and thoughtful and provides excellent care. Unfortunately, my teeth were too cracked for a root canal, so I can't speak to how she does with that, though if I ever have to get one, I would go to her. I have Delta Dental and the visits were covered.

    Good luck!

Had my first root canal with Dr Ravendoust in Oakland.  She and the work were first rate.

  • Hello - we're sad to have learned that our dentist that we love (Aloha Pediatric) is no longer taking our insurance (Delta). Do you have any recommendations for a pediatric dentist, preferably taking Delta? Thank you

^^ would like to know as well! (currently DS goes to mine but not a good fit)

We also use Aloha and have decided to stay with them even though they will be out of network. From what my dentist said, Delta has changed the way they compensate dentists and that many of his colleagues (at least in the Berkeley area) have decided to leave Delta. Dental insurance basically sucks all around -- it's probably our biggest health care expense in a normal year. (Maybe we just have bad teeth?) Anyhow, sorry I don't have any leads for you, just wanted to warn you that finding dentists that are Delta members may be difficult. Good luck!

We've been very happy with Dr. Patrick So at POW Dental in Albany. I don't have Delta and can't comment on that, but insurance has not been a problem with this office. https://www.powdental.com/

We left Aloha for the same reason. We just had a good experience at Little Gold Fish in downtown Oakland.

  • Hi there! I’m looking for an Delta Dental PPO in-network Dentist for my husband and I in Berkeley/Oakland/Alameda/Albany. Does anyone have a dentist they love? Thank you in advance!

Our family uses Dr. Susan Caliri, http://caliridds.com/about-us/ and we are quite happy.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Penelope Yip for over 20 years. I am pretty sure she is in-network with Delta Dental. Always a top notch experience, and her COVID-19 protocols are impeccable. 510-841-7424

We have Delta Dental and we really like Dr. Tala Aziz, for both kids and adults. Her office is in the building behind Alta Bates.

My husband and I go to Dr. Michael Woo in Oakland. We love him! He and his dad, Willie Woo, share a practice.

I cannot recommend Dr. Marchelle King highly enough. She's in South Berkeley, and she's been my dentist for years. I have some complex dental issues, and she always puts me at ease and takes time to explain everything to me. Her entire staff is great.

  • I'm seeking a highly recommended pediatric dentist in Berkeley (or nearby) that accepts Delta Dental as in-network. As of June 2021, Aloha Dentistry will no longer be in-network and apparently many other practices won't be accepting it as well.

    Thank you!

Hello, we have Delta Dental and take our daughter to POW (Pediatric Oral Wellness) in Albany. They are great. Our daughter (age 5) loves going to the dentist! I haven't checked on whether their insurance policies are changing this year, but it would be worth giving them a call. Good luck!

Hi.  Just wanted to respond because as a Delta Dental Insurance holder and an Aloha parent I was very concerned.  I contacted them to find out that it is true they will not be in network.  However, Delta will still provide some compensation for service, just not at the in-network rate.  And while there is no way of knowing for sure, sometimes the in-network and out of network rate are not much different.  So if you love Aloha, it might be worth it to stay and see what happens.  If you would like further info on this you can contact Mahi Amerino the dental administrator at mahia [at] alohakidsdds.com or call 510-990-3377.

I have DD and loved our experience at https://www.kidsteethdoctor.com/ . Dr Nick was recommended to us by our pediatrician and its turns out some of the other kids at our daycare go there too and love him just as much. We also felt super safe with their covid protocols.

My son has been going to Alameda Pediatric Dentistry at their Oakland and more recently Alameda location. He has autism and they have been great at accommodating his needs. Dr. Wahl and Dr. Thenard are excellent dentists. The hygienists have been great as well. They have tv screens above the dentist chairs which have been helpful in keeping my son still so they can work on him. He’s able to pick which movie or show he would like to watch. Its been overall a great experience.

RE:

My employer provides Delta Dental PPO, and an old dentist once told me that most dentists only accept this one.  I don't know if it is available for private purchase

RE:

If you have the option of choosing Delta Dental PPO instead of DeltaCare--some employers offer both, but the PPO costs more--they are in network for several local pediatric practices (including Uptown Pediatrics in Oakland, where our kids go). I've found the DeltaCare network pretty lousy in general. For a couple of years when we didn't have the PPO plan as an option, we just paid out of pocket and it was also pretty reasonable.
