  • Dentist for phobic young adult

    ISO DENTIST who is responsive to extreme dentist anxiety.  My young adult daughter with sensory and anxiety issues has finally been "graduated" by the pediatric dentist she has seen since she was a toddler.  She needs a dentist who is respectful of her extreme sensory and anxiety issues as well as propensity to cavities,  Must be willing to use nitrous for cleaning and light sedation for fillings, bonus for allowing or offering screens for distraction.  Recommendations?  (I did see recent referrals for dentists but not specializing in hyper-sensory sensitivity / anxiety.) Oakland/Berkeley or broader east bay preferred.  THANK YOU.

    I highly recommend Dr. Erwin Yeh in Berkeley. He is incredibly gentle and takes the time to explain everything he’s doing. Patients can use nitrous for cleanings, if they need it.

My 17 year old daughter is ready to leave the pediatric dentistry world. Does any one have any recommendations for a dentist that sees a lot of young adult patients? Thanks.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a dentist for a teen who's ''outgrown'' his pediatric dentist. He's a bit of a reluctant dental patient. His parents' dentist seems to have no patients younger than middle age, so we'd be interested to know of a good dentist for young adults. parent of dentist-shy teen

I highly recommend Dr. Scott Mckinzie . He and his staff are awesome! After having several bad experiences at Pleasant Valley Dental in Oakland, I found Dr. Scott (on Grand Avenue near Ace Hardware). He is the best dentist I've ever known - very caring and patient, actually makes a dental appointment a pleasant experience. My son recently 'graduated' from his pediatric dentist to Dr. Ariane Terlet , on Regent St. in Berkeley. She and her associate, Dr. Aziz have a family dental practice, and are kind and skilful dentists. The office staff are helpful, and Dr. Terlet and many other staff are fluent in Spanish. Dentist for 12-yr-old in WC/Lamorinda

Our daughter has happily been going to Dr. Neil Katsura in Orinda forever. Insurance options have changed and we now are seeking a new dentist for her. At her age, 12, perhaps we should be considering a family dentist rather than pediatric. We are seeking recommendations of dentists in the Walnut Creek/Lamorinda area who take VSP insurance. Any recommendations? Any amount of detail you can provide as to the dentist, the office environment, and the hygienist(s) as well would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know what kind of insurance they accept for full payment (all dentists will accept any type of insurance, but it may not cover the full cost), but I can recommend Dr. Scott Lothamer , 1030 Country Club Drive, Moraga, CA 925-376-4602. We have Delta Dental. Our hygenist, Jayne is the greatest. My wife & I and our two 13 year old teenagers go to Dr. Lothamer --Parent of Teens

I highly recommend Art of Smile Family Dentistry in Lafayette. Dr. Dontinneni is highly skilled, very caring and has all state of the art equipment. She is a mom herself of 2 elementary age children.
