We've had good experiences renting ski and snowboard gear from Sports Basement. We've never done it for more than a few days at a time, but they do offer a season-long package https://shop.sportsbasement.com/collections/rentals

I just saw a sign in Sports Basement that they are running their Ski Bus to Palisades Tahoe starting Jan 8. $90 round trip. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test required.

RE:

Have you checked with Sports Basement? I know that they have monthly bike rentals, though the inventory is sometimes a bit low.

Also, we have an electric bike we used for several years to transport kids. DM if you want to chat about our experience.

RE:

I recommend speaking with the folks at REI and Sports Basement, and renting tents at first, to get a better idea of what you need before you buy.

I hear that you don't want things to be expensive, but be aware those most kids' raincoats are not taped around the seams. This means that if you wear them in a downpour, water will seep through the seams and the kids will get wet. The only places I found seam-taped raincoats for kids was REI and Sports Basement, which also has a great selection.

As for boots, we have had great luck with the Crocs rainboots. It's just one piece of rubber, no cotton lining, so if water gets in through the top (for little kids, this happens a lot as they are short and love puddles), you don't have to wait a week for the boot to dry out completely.

Libraries are free but you have to be open to anyone, and Sports Basement in Berkeley is free if you reserve ahead of time.

Sports basement offers their community rooms for free!

Try Sports Basement in Berkeley! Close-ish to Ashby Bart station.

RE: Jogging Stroller for serious running

I am a pretty avid runner and run 2-3 times a week (have done u can click in your car seat (about $30) and I started jogging when my baby was only 12 weeks old. When he was 6 months old, we removed the attachment and he just sat in the stroller. I also recommend getting the lcup holdern which holds 2 water bottles and you then have a place for your keys, cell phone, etc. We bought our Bob Revolution at ''Sport Basement'' in SF and they seemed to have the best prices. Good luck! happy running

RE: Baby backpack to fit a tall person

I recommend the Kelty ''Back Country'' baby backpack. It is very easily adjustable to different heights by just sliding a button. I am 5'7'' and my husband is a little over 6' and we've both found it very comfortable, and our little boy loves it too.

Kelty makes a variety of these backpacks and we got the good advice to buy one that has ''more padding than we think we will need, since you don't want to discover several miles into the trail that it's not comfortable.''

Sports Basement in the Presidio has them for about $169.99, I think, and other places like REI have them for around $200- 220. You could also try them on at a store then try to find one that's gently used on this list or on Craig's List for half the price. Katy
