Hello - I am reaching out to get some recommendations on preschools for my 18 month old son. We are in El Cerrito but looking for schools in el Cerrito, Richmond or Albany. We have been considering Montessori but open to other options as well.
Also any recent experiences from Nomura or Little tree montessori ?

–Dec 2, 2021Hello! We are moving to the El Cerrito Hills and would appreciate recommendations for preschools with openings for a 4-year-old starting in January. Many schools I’ve called are already full for the school year.
Dec 2, 2021ISO Openings - Daycares and Montessori Preschools
–Mar 13, 2020Touring a couple schools near our new house, but can't find any reviews of Little Tree Montessori in El Cerrito. Does anyone have any experience with them? Also meeting with Rising Sun, which has plenty of glowing reviews but a bit further for us. Open to other recommendations between EL Cerrito and downtown Oakland. Preferably starting this fall but also ok if we need to wait for an opening later in the year or next year. Ideally looking for him to have a Montessori education and be able to get to know and grow with the teachers. Also, if you know of any great in home daycares that could take him now, I'd appreciate it! He's 17 months old. Thank you!
Mar 13, 2020Seeking Full-Time Daycare in El Cerrito - 13 month boy
–Jul 16, 2018Hi There!
Any recommendations on a daycare located in El Cerrito area that are accepting toddlers? I need full-time care for my son who is 13 months old.
Many thanks,
Shalisa :)
Jul 16, 2018I am having a hard time finding a *reasonably priced* preschool in or around El Cerrito that runs on an academic year rather than year-round schedule. My husband and I teach, and so we spend the summer road-tripping, camping and caring for elderly parents back east. We have found a few promising places, but so far they are all year-round. The thought of paying thousands of dollars for the 10+ weeks that we are gone for the summer seems somehow absurd.
I realize that many parents work year-round and appreciate the ability to have a stable placement for their children throughout, but I imagine that there are others in a similar position to us that have found accommodations.
Thanks for any leads.
Apr 9, 2018Infant daycare near El Cerrito
–Aug 31, 2017Hi there! We have been looking for a daycare for our daughter who will be four months when I return to work in October. We have somewhat of a tight budget ($1300-1400) and are looking for a place near El Cerrito. Please let us know about any openings you may know of- we're feeling a bit stuck. We've tried Bananas but haven't quite heard back from places we've reached out to.

Aug 31, 2017Seeking infant daycare near Del Norte BART
–Mar 11, 2017Hi there! I'm looking for M-F fulltime daycare starting in May for my daughter, who will be 9 months old at that time. I've tried calling as many places as possible and am having no luck getting a spot for an infant! Any help would be much appreciated. Closer to Del Norte Bart is best, but I'm flexible. Thank you!
Mar 11, 2017In need of full time infant daycare in El Cerrito
–Feb 17, 2017Hi BPN, our childcare plans didn't work out as expected and we are now looking for daycare for our baby girl in El Cerrito or the surrounding area beginning in April. I work in El Cerrito for WCCUSD, and will be returning to work April 17th. I work 8:30-4 during the school year with some intermitten work in the summer. Lucía will be 5 months old the week prior to me returning to work. If you have an infant spot available at your daycare or can recommend someone who does, please contact us. We prefer a small in home daycare.
Thank you!
Feb 17, 2017Looking for a home-based small daycare that has openings in the next 4 months near El Cerrito
–Dec 30, 2016I have a 14 month old son and now starting to really research daycare options in or near El Cerrito area. We are a conscious living family so an eco-friendly, clean with minimal plastic place would be ideal. Warm and attentive caregivers. Lots of activities and play time since our kiddo is full of energy. Also would be great to have organic meals and/or healthy snacks provided, part-time available and supported potty training.
Looking forward to your recommendations!
Thanks a lot in advance!

I have heard good things from friends about both of those schools. My son is at The Point Playhouse in El Cerrito and we love it. Feel free to DM and I can share more.
Both of my children (6yo & 3yo, latter currently enrolled) have attended The Good Earth School in Kensington and have loved it. Not Montessori specifically, but great, welcoming staff, and excellent community. They focus on outdoor play, in all weather, so my kids have both cultivated a good sense of the outdoors, and love nature walks etc. Highly recommend if a preschool setting is what you're seeking!
Hello, I would describe Nomura as more traditional in its style and approach to learning. When our child moved on to Albany USD, this was confirmed. It is not Montessori.
There are many home based preschools in the area worth investigating. Also, I would suggest matching your child’s personality to the style of teaching.
Nomura is great. it isnt montessori or play based . Definitely preps kids for a school environment eventually .Very warm with the littles and supportive of the kids/families especially around potty . There is structure but also lots of room for self directed play. Turnover of teachers is very low. Hours are great for working parents and xmas, easter breaks but no summer extended weeks closed
I would encourage you to check out Greenhouse, led by André Julien. Our child attended from 18 months to 3yo and the house-run daycare proved to be magical, interesting and always enriching.
