Who can subscribe as a parent?

There are two requirements:

  1. You must be a parent or parent-to-be so you can participate in discussions about raising children. Your children can be any age, including young adults.  Foster parents, grandparents and other family members caring for children in the family may also subscribe as parents. 

  2. You must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area or be planning a move here. Temporary relocations and extended vacations in the Bay Area are OK too, as long as you will be living in the Bay Area.

How much does it cost to subscribe?

It is free for parents to subscribe. BPN's operations are supported by schools, camps, and child-related businesses in the community who pay a fee to subscribe in exchange for access to publicize their programs on BPN.

What are the benefits of subscribing to BPN as a parent?

  • Access to read and post to subscriber-only content including the Childcare and Marketplace listings 
  • Access to post new questions seeking advice and recommendations, and post responses, to Parent Q&A
  • Access to post reviews about a school, camp, class, or other child-related business that you have experience with
  • Ability to receive optional weekly newsletter summaries of recent posts

How do I subscribe?

Click "subscribe" in the upper right-hand corner of any page and follow the directions for Parents Subscribers. 

How do I unsubscribe?

You just need to unsubscribe from all the BPN newsletters.  See How do I subscribe to or unsubscribe from the newsletters?

How do I log in?

Click "log in" in the upper right-hand corner of any page.  If you don't see the log in link, you are already logged in.

How do I post a review of my child's school or camp or pediatrician?

If you have created an account on the BPN website, log in and navigate to the school's profile page.  You can do this by typing its name into "Search BPN", or look for it on Advice & Reviews. Once you're on the profile page, there is a "Post a review" button.  You can also respond to a question in Parent Q&A and your response will be archived to the profile page of the school or child-related business you are recommending.  

How do I post an announcement or event?

BPN accepts announcements and events only from Community Subscribers, not from parents. See Why can't parents post announcements or events?

Can I post anonymously?

Yes. Your name, email address, and phone number are optional on all postings.  All posts do include the username you chose, except for Parent Q&A, which accepts completely anonymous posts.  BPN subscribers who are logged in can click your username on your post to send you a message, but they will not see your email address or name unless you choose to include it in your post. Your account information on the website is private and cannot be viewed by anyone except for you and the site administrator. Posts on the public sections of the website do not display your username - only BPN subscribers can view it.
