RE:

I can't recommend A World of Peace Camp highly enough - it meets out of Cordornices Park. Its opening is contingent on the city of Berkeley opening up the parks and playgrounds, and they won't make any decision until the end this month (May.) I recommend you check back then. It might not happen, but it's a great camp so worth looking into if things open up.

I have two kid's, a boy and a girl, who have been going to A World of Peace Summer Day Camp for 8 years, and love it.

It’s in a beautiful location, out of the hustle and bustle of city life, my kids have made priceless memories here.

The director has a really good feel for who to hire for counselors, and always has staff that are really committed, and attentive to the needs of the camper's.

There are always really fun projects for the camper's to participate in, and the field trips have been a big hit.

The safety of the camper's is clearly a priority for the camp, both emotional and physical safety and I have always felt comfortable that my kid's were being well taken care, on many levels.

The director and owner, Karen, is very conscious of families individual financial situations and is open to discussion about prices, she has been extremely understanding with me as a single mother it’s not the easiest thing to come up with summer cash for camps. Karen has helped me tremendously, and we’ve enjoyed many years with her and will always be grateful and thankful for her supportive caring attitude in providing wonderful care for my 2 kids!

If anyone would like to reach out personally I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have. I think my info is on here for members.

My children have been attending A World of Peace Summer Camp for the last 5 summers. It has been a beautiful, fun, caring environment, where my kids get to enjoy nature every day, make lasting memories with regular and new attendees in the beautiful Cordenices Park across from the Berkeley Rose Garden.
The director Karen practices and shows the children how to navigate their days peacefully and with care for their community as the name suggests.
The kids go swimming weekly and have 2 field trips a week, gather for morning circle with songs and laughter every morning. Participate in fun projects, such as Thai dye, cooking meals together, and games. Cordenices park has basketball courts, a playground, a grassy lawn and woodlands that makes it feel like my kids are in the country side, not a city environment which they love and look forward to going to every day.
Karen is also flexible and understanding of personal financial restraints with fees, just reach out and talk to her.
This is such a perfect unique place for my 2 to spend the summers. So happy to have found her..if you're looking for an amazing, warm, experienced and totally fun summer camp, look no further, Karen's AWOP is for you!!
