Nana's House currently has openings for 18+ month old toddlers! Our daughter has been attending Nana's House for the past year and a half, and we feel so lucky to have found a home with Lorena.

Lorena and her assistants are such warm and attentive caregivers, making sure that each child is allowed to grow and blossom at their own pace through a combination of play-based learning, bilingual studies, and environmental exploration. She is always coming up with fun activities that build fine motor skills and reasoning, whether through crafting, playing outside, yoga, culinary activities, and story time. The kids regularly take trips to the park, library, Berkeley Bowl and East Bay Nursery. Our daughter has formed strong friendships, and has really blossomed in Lorena's care. Bonus is that she serves breakfast, lunch and two snacks, which makes weekday planning extra easy for busy parents. Lorena has supported us through potty training, sleep regressions and toddler behavioral shifts, and has been a true partner in raising our daughter. She has become part of our family and we feel so lucky to have found a home at Nana's House.

Our little one has had a home with Lorena for the past year, and we've had the absolute best experience!

Lorena has created a lovely, warm environment—she & her assistants are very nurturing & gentle, and they offer Spanish immersion. She supports development through play-based learning, including outdoor play, craft projects, story time, & field trips around Berkeley (the library, plant nursery, kids' concerts, etc.). The kids are always highly engaged, having fun, and learning something new. Lorena is also very sensitive to the emotional development of each child, and we've seen our little one grow into a confident, kind, and adventurous kiddo during our time with her.

Lorena has also taught us so much. As first-time parents, this has been invaluable—she has shared so many recommendations with us, guiding us through sleep transitions, potty training, and physical & behavioral development. She is generous with her knowledge, highly communicative, and always adapts to our family's needs and preferences. Most importantly, our little one has adored her and loves spending time at Nana's House. We have been so lucky to have her in our lives, and she has been a huge part of our family!

Our family is moving abroad and we're incredibly sad to say goodbye, though this leaves a spot available for anyone seeking a daycare option—she will have space for a little one aged 18 months+ starting in April '23, and we have only the best things to say about her. We have sincerely loved our time at Nana's House!

Nana's House still has openings for 20+ month old toddlers!

Our daughter (now 3) has had a home at Nana's House since she was 3 months old and we could not be more happy with the experience. She has so much fun with the activities there and looks forward to running inside every day. When we go on vacation, she doesn't stop talking about all her friends there and how she misses everyone at Nana's House. Lorena has been running her daycare for nearly 20 years and has an outstanding understanding of childhood development - she has taught us a lot about parenting and has been the first person we ask for tips all along. She immerses all of the kids in Spanish language (our daughter is trilingual thanks to Nana's House and knows all the words in Spanish!), and she provides a great breakfast, lunch, and snacks, which really simplifies our daily routine.

We've been very happy with how seriously Lorena takes the pandemic and air quality issues from smoke and have had a safe haven for all of the kids through the hard times the past few years (no COVID-19 cases and she has been very aware of bad air days and runs air purifiers) that have allowed our daughter to have a normal and happy childhood through it all.

I highly recommend Nana's House and would be happy to discuss further with interested families.

Nana’s House has an opening starting November 1st for a 20+ month lucky toddler!

Our 2-year-old little one is transitioning to Preschool this Fall and we are torn that he is leaving his second home at Nana’s house, a small and close-knit community.  Our son is always excited to go to Nana’s House where he has tremendous fun learning art, dance, music, nature, math, and friendship while being showered with love.

Lorena has years of experience in child development and she is a true magician when it comes to helping your child develop new skills while being patient and understanding of your child own timing and needs. She balanced our little one’s individual needs but also challenged him to try new things at his own pace. Our son was a shy one year old who would rarely talk to new people, and now he is a free-spirited individual that loves to play with his little friends, developed a rich vocabulary and a confident personality.

Lorena is also very communicative. She will discuss your child’s development and works with parents to set goals for your little one’s academic growth. She constantly evaluates the current activities, adapts and develops a rich curriculum appropriate to your child development and needs. We will forever be grateful for the role she has played in our son’s life and will miss her dearly.

We cannot recommend her enough and are happy to provide more details for those families interested in this opening.

Nana’s House currently has an opening for 20+ month toddlers!

Our 3-year old son has been with Lorena since he was 5 months old and we are so grateful. She has been there every step of the way, helping us first-time parents navigate all of the developmental milestones (eating solids, potty training, crib to bed transition, etc). Lorena skillfully supports our child’s social emotional development as well as his academic growth through play-based learning.

Lorena’s deep understanding of early childhood development is unparalleled and she constantly refines and adapts her activities to meet the ever evolving needs of the group. She’s flexible and responsive and most importantly, our son loves her and knows that she loves him!

Happy to talk more details with any interested families!

Starting in August, Nana's Daycare will be accepting 20+month toddlers.  My child has grown up Nana's, starting there when he was only 5 months old. He is now 2 years, 7 months and still going strong there!  Nana has been the single biggest influence in his life outside our home, and she has taught him so many things we didn't know he was even capable of at his age: Manners (sharing, communicating), cleanliness (washing his own hands, using napkin), counting to 20 right when he turned 2, shapes, colors - all in Spanish! We are constantly amused/amazed at what he comes home from daycare learning next. Nana places importance on being active and playing outside when possible. Also, she provides many arts and crafts activities and story time. They eat well there, always incorporating fruits or veggies. She potty trained him and taught him to sleep on the floor mat, which made our transition at home from crib to bed seamless. Seriously, could not recommend Nana's enough. We will miss her so much when my child transitions out!

My son has been attending Nana's house for nearly two years and we are sad to be moving on to preschool this September. However, this means that another lucky 20+ months child will have an opportunity to join this fantastic daycare. I have nothing but praise for how Lorena (aka Nana to the kids) creates a nurturing, stimulating and growth promoting environment for the children. My son has being so well socialized and I have also appreciated how Lorena works with the parents to ensure success in such challenges as those inevitable biting phases and toilet training. Lorena is clearly dedicated to her children and goes above and beyond to create memories for them and their parents (the christmas photoshoot being a highlight!). As I said, we're sad to be moving on, our expectations have certainly being set high by our experience at Nana's house.

Nana's House has opening for 20+months starting this September!  Lorena and Maria make a great team, and truly care for the children. Lorena provides a safe & fun learning environment for the kids, and you can tell she takes pride in what she does. My 8 month old has a blast playing outside with the other babies and is happy when he arrives each day! Not to mention your kids will be immersed in Spanish all day. We are grateful to have found Nana's House as the place of care for our baby - it is a true gem.

Nana's House has openings for 18+ months on a full-time basis. We have been using Nana's Daycare in West Berkeley for almost a year, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found Lorena and Maria. They are excellent caretakers, with a small number of kids of different ages. They do so much work to help make each day exciting for all the kids, and Lorena will always give a rundown on how your child was during the day. Every time my child goes running into the house to hug Lorena or Maria, we know we made the right choice! Happy to talk to any interested parents.

Nana's House in South Berkeley has openings for "big kids"--18 months+. I can't recommend Nana's more highly. My son goes there and my older son went there before him. Lorena has completely changed our lives. She is consistent, caring, intuitive, and energetic. The kids eat well, play hard, and might surprise you by speaking Spanish to you at home. She builds an incredible community for the kids, and I consider her not just a childcare provider but a friend. Really, the best around. Feel free to email me with questions.

We were so fortunate and lucky to have found Lorena's (Nana's) for our little one. He absolutely adores her and her staff and loves going there. He asks about his "Nani" on weekends, and looks forward to seeing her on Monday. They speak Spanish to him consistently and he speaks so much! Their day is full of fun indoor and outdoor activities, which include playing in her awesome back yard, going on neighborhood trips, drawing, painting, singing, dancing, and reading. My child is so happy to go there, and when I pick him up he seems so excited to share about his day. Lorena is truly part of our family and we will be visiting her for years to come!

If you are willing to go to Berkeley, we highly recommend Nana’s house!

Lorena Aranda (Nana) has immediate openings for a couple of girls 18 months and older, and I couldn't recommend her more highly! My older son went to Nana's and now my toddler is there. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found her. She is warm, kind, smart, and loving. She runs a smooth, full day with tons of outside time, healthy snacks, art activities, lots of play, a nap, and opportunities for kids to get messy, tired out, and happy. It's a real community at Nana's House. The kids adore each other, she does many fun activities and celebrations, and she relates to each child in a warm, special way. She really is a gem. Please contact me if you have any questions I can answer.

Lorena or "nana" as most of the children call her is more than a daycare provider, she is part of our family. Both of my daughters (now 3 and 6) went to Nana's house. It has been about 6 months since my youngest stopped going and not a day goes by that they don't ask if they can go visit Nana. She is one of the most loving, patient, energetic people you will meet. She is such a wonderful resource for parents and I owe her the world for potty training my girls. I can't say enough wonderful things about her. Please contact me if you have any questions I can answer. Consider yourself lucky if you end up with Nana :)!

The amazing wonderful daycare our son has been going to for over a year has availability and we're glad it's posted now on BPN. It's been a well kept secret in our neighborhood, with 4 other kids on our block having gone through their early years at "Nana's" warm-hearted, inspired, and nurturing daycare. Lorena aka Nana treats these kids as her own, operating from her home on 9th Street/Channing, taking them on little adventures around town, teaching them play together, providing her wisdom and guidance, potty training them (!) and giving them a cozy place to be together. If you're looking for a daycare with lots of smiles and love, this is it. We knew we found the right place when on weekends our 2 1/2 year old will say he would like to go to Nana's.

Nana has cared for both of our sons (2 & 5) for the past 5 years. She is excellent with babies and toddlers, plenty of love, encouragement and adventure. We started our sons at 6 months of age, they both flourished under her care and support. She takes the time to learn each child's personality and help them learn in a nurturing supportive environment. Nana's house is more that just a day care is a second family, we have loved every minute with Nana.
