Hairstylist recommendation for pixie cut
Hi BPN, I would like to cut my medium-length hair short to a pixie cut. I am looking for a stylist who is skilled with fine and thin hair. I have in mind a feminine style that is low maintenance. Which hairstylists do you recommend in Oakland or Berkeley? Thank you!

I would recommend Victoria at Hummingbird Salon on Piedmont Ave in Oakland. Victoria used to be a stylist at the very popular Edo Salon down the street but ventured into her own business a year or so ago. I have very fine/thin hair and went from a below the shoulder length style to a short cut. Victoria did a great job and listens to exactly what you want and what your concerns are! Book with her here https://www.vagaro.com/hummingbirdsalon -- and you can also find her on Instagram @ hummingbirdoakland.
Good luck with change!
I go to Chris Pham at Park and Newton Salon in Oakland. He’s very affordable (usually $85-95 depending on length) and up to date with styles.
Nanci Pecker at 4365 Adeline in Emeryville is fabulous. Her number is 510-292-9533 or email nanci_g_p [at] yahoo.com> for an appointment. She's been cutting my hair for many years and I had a pixie cut for the bulk of those. (I have a bob now that I love.) She is very skilled and her haircuts last a long time and grow out well. She even was able to cover up a temporary bald spot I had, even when I was getting a super short cut.
Good luck!
Hey!
I highly recommend Trinh Tran- she has decades of experience and works with all types of hair. Plus, she is super sweet! You can reach her at +1 (510) 750-9877.
Please let me know if you end up calling, and/or let her know I sent you!
I hope it looks great!
I have extremely fine hair and for years couldn't find a stylist who knew how to cut it to make it look full and healthy but not blown out in a silly way. I finally found Barbara Patnode and have followed her to multiple salons (she now has her own private location) over the last nearly 10 years. I can't recommend her enough. She is extremely skilled and has excellent recommendations for products that have really changed my hair for the better. Her website is: https://www.bphairdesign.com/
I had a pixie cut for years, although at the time I was living in San Francisco so couldn’t help with a stylist. If you haven’t had one before, I just wanted to share that I had to get neck trims every 4 to 6 weeks to touch up the back. Luckily the place I used to go to offered free neck trims, but that’s something to keep in mind. Other than that, it was a comfortable and fairly low maintenance cut.
I get a "mixie" (mullet pixie) from Monica at Chop Salon. She's great!
Hi,
I also have fine hair, and not a lot of it. Aviva at Keter Salon has done an excellent job cutting my Pixies over the years. She's very personable, open to your ideas but also realistic when it comes to us folks who don't want to spend 30 minutes each morning blow drying. I've managed to stretch out time between cuts to up to 3 months, and it still looked good. But she isn't cheap.. https://ketersalon.com/stylists/
