SWEAT Strength + Cycling
SWEAT Strength + Cycling is a locally-owned boutique group fitness and private training studio in the heart of Downtown Albany - right across the street from Safeway. We offer group strength and cardio classes (with babysitting available).
Something that keeps me motivated is paying and attending classes! If you sign up and pay a monthly membership fee, you may just force yourself to go so you don’t feel like you’re wasting money. Small amounts of money, pay as you go, or free activities lack that extrinsic motivation.
Joining a class means there’s a start and end time that isn’t influenced by your motivation level. Joining a group class will provide that nudge to attend and push through it till the end.
I attend Sweat, which combines strength and cardio in each class. People of all ages and body types attend. Modify as you need, going light on weights or none at all. Increase over time. Ask instructors for modifications. Do what you can! But consider choosing something that forces you follow through.
I really love Sweat. I go to their outdoor gym in Emeryville- I live in Richmond but it’s worth the drive (at least on the weekends) because it’s so fun, always a great challenging workout (strength+cardio) and love being outside but getting to use heavy weights. They also have a normal indoor gym in Rockridge. It’s all HIIT circuit-style and you can try it (or go regularly through) classpass.
Highly recommend Sweat in Emeryville. Great outdoor HIIT class.

Sweat, a local and independently owned and operated HIIT gym with locations in Albany and Oakland (https://www.sweatoften.com/) is offering a range of on-line classes, both scheduled and on-demand. They're fantastic!
I love Sweat (Rockridge & Albany). They have inspiring instructors, great variety and really cool clientele! Welcome to the east bay!
I love Sweat fitness- they have locations in Albany and Oakland (Rockridge).
Always challenging HIIT classes but modifiable depending on one’s needs. The instructors are great too!
Try Happy Hour Fitness or Sweat, both along the Solano Ave corridor in North Berkeley. I've had fantastic classes there. They both charge by the class rather than the month, and both have introductory offers (e.g. 5 classes for $50).
SWEAT fitness is awesome. There's a location on Solano Ave in Albany and one on College Ave in Oakland.
I've been a regular there for a bit over a year. I go 2-4 times a week depending on my schedule and kids. The classes are High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes. They're super challenging and really fun. The trainers are all really impressive too. I've been really really happy with the change in my body over the year I've been working out there. www.sweatoften.com
