About the Program:

Diamond Little People Academy (DLPA) is a play-based preschool program that strives to inspire each child to grow to their full potential. We prioritize safety first, love with all our hearts, and loads of fun and adventure! We enroll on a first-come-first-serve basis, depending on the space needed/available. Please contact us to schedule a tour, we would love to meet your family! We currently have two locations, Dimond district, and West Oakland, very close to downtown. Our Dimond location has part-time availability, however, our West location just reopened and has full-time and part-time options in our pod classrooms (smaller group sizes). We look forward to hearing from your family to schedule a tour via Zoom!

DLPA West has been great for my child.  The teachers are so warm and engaging.  They have so many enriching activities.  The outdoor space is a ton of fun for the kids.  We dreaded the transition from one daycare to preschool, but the staff made it so easy for my child.  The administration is very communicative to parents.  We got constant updates all day about how our little ones are doing.  They have stepped up COV-protocols in place that I feel very confident in.

Our daughter has been attending DLPA West since they reopened in July. I have nothing but great things to share about the staff and our experience as a whole. The teachers are caring, patient and attentive. I’m amazed at how much my toddler is learning-including how to write letters! The administrative staff (Alexis, Ed and Deltrina) are great, communicative and are constantly adapting with our changing times. DLPA is a great addition to the neighborhood and I can’t recommend it enough for your little ones!

Although the outdoor space is amazing (especially in during the pandemic--kids spend most of their time outside), what really makes DLPA a gem is the people. Alexis, Ed, Deltrina, Cynthia, and Monique are amazing with their level of attention, creativity and true passion for their work. Our kid is actually excited to go to daycare in the morning--no small feat for a two year old! He also comes home with new vocabulary, letter/number recognition, and singing songs, so is actively engaged every day.

I was nervous about transitioning from SIP after 3+ months of our son only being with immediate family, but the entire team looked after him and did a great job communicating with us on the transition. I would recommend DLPA West to anyone--I am sure my son is safe, happy, loved and learning every day.

It's been such a relief to have a responsible, safe and warm daycare for our 21 month old daughter. She had been out of daycare for more than 3 months due to Covid, and suffering from lack of socialization with other kids, and enrichment activities. Alexis was incredibly responsive to all of our questions when we were enrolling, and the rest of the teachers are all warm and friendly. They are taking smart (and realistic) precautions that are appropriate for small children to keep everyone healthy. The last few weeks have been wonderful and we are so happy to have her in the program.

Alexis and Ed and all of the staff are amazing! Our 2 yr old son was ready to start at this location in the middle of March right as COVID-19 shut everything down. We have been anxiously awaiting their reopening and were so excited when they did on July 1. In the week he’s been there, our son has started counting and identifying shapes and letters more consistently. We often receive pictures of him having fun if we have rough morning drop-offs which I appreciate, and he never wants to come home at pick up. We’re so grateful to have found a preschool with passionate caregivers that are dedicated to following the current COVID safety protocols as they continue to be developed.

We just started our 18 month old at Diamond Little People's new west Oakland location on 12th street. They are so great, we are super grateful we found them and were able to get a spot! Very friendly staff, they're super responsive to your inquiries. They have a great system during Covid, they have a station setup at the door to sign your kid in without having to enter the building. They use a no touch thermometer on each kid when you drop them off and have sanitized pens to use when signing your kid in (and a place to put used pens after). We debated about going back to daycare with Covid but they've made us feel safe with our decision.
