About the Program:

Diamond Little People Academy (DLPA) is a play-based preschool program that strives to inspire each child to grow to their full potential. We prioritize safety first, love with all our hearts, and loads of fun and adventure! We enroll on a first-come-first-serve basis, depending on the space needed/available. Please contact us to schedule a tour, we would love to meet your family! We currently have two locations, Dimond district, and West Oakland, very close to downtown. Our Dimond has part-time availability and also taking full-time families on waitlist. However, our West location just reopened and has full-time and part-time options in our pod classrooms (smaller group sizes). We look forward to hearing from your family to schedule a tour via Zoom!

Diamond Little People Academy (DLPA) is amazing! Our daughter attended DLPA for two years and I couldn't have imagined a better place for her. I was apprehensive when trying to find a first-ever daycare for our daughter after moving from out of state and DLPA was exactly what I was looking for. Ed and Alexis are warm, considerate, fun-loving, and most importantly, dependable. You can tell that they are passionate about what they do. As a first-time mom, they helped us gracefully navigate nap times, potty training, mealtimes... Our daughter loved going there and would often beg us to stay just a few minutes longer when we would pick her up at the end of the day. Ed and Alexis are truly one-of-a-kind, I can't recommend DLPA highly enough.

My 3 year old son absolutely LOVES DLPA. Ed, Alexis, and all of the teachers are great. They do thoughtful things like send a photo text of my son playing to show that he transitioned well after a rough drop off. They communicate well, they are kind, and they definitely make sure the children are kept engaged with age appropriate activities. The children create beautiful art and go on fun field trips. I’m also happy that I found a daycare that serves healthy, organic meals! I am completely happy to keep my son at DLPA until he enters TK, because I know that besides being very well taken care of, he is learning so much and gaining skills that he will need once he enters elementary school.

I have 2 daughters enrolled in DLPA, my youngest for the past 2.5 years and my youngest since June 2019 (before that she was in Dimond Little Babies with Monique that I also HIGHLY recommend). When I was looking for a daycare, it was a very stressful and overwhelming experience. A friend recommended DLPA towards the end of my maternity leave, and I managed to come in for a tour the day before I was scheduled to return to work. Alexis was warm, open, and inviting. I loved it, and Alexis and Ed asomehow managed to accomodate my child starting there the next day. The last 2.5 years have been wonderful! It's hard to describe how lucky I've felt to have a place to take my babies where I feel that they are being cared for by warm, loving, and wonderful people. Not to mention the fact that both of my daughters always come home singing new songs, or telling me about what they are learning in "school". My oldest (3.5 years old) can write her name and recognize letters, and my youngest (2 years old) is counting and recognizes her colors. They take weekly trips to the library down the hill, as well as regular field trips throughout the year. My daughters talk excitedly about going to daycare, and 99% of the time, I end up hanging out there at the end of the day becasue they are never ready to leave and come home. Honestly, I don't mind because I like being there so much myself. This is an amazing daycare, that I have highly recommend to family, friends and neighbors. We love it!!

I'm a pediatrician and an educator, and my son (3 years old) has attended DLPA over the past year or so. I couldn't be happier! They treat him with love and kindness every single day, they feed him organic healthy food at every snack and meal, and they keep him busy with activities and field trips! The kids play in the house and in the yard, they take walks to the park and library, and they have even gone to the beach, the lake, and the zoo! He absolutely loves the environment and the people, and is excited to go every single day. Alexis and Ed are wonderful human beings and they teach the children how to be loving and mindful of everyone's feelings. They are great about allowing the kids to work through their own problems without allowing situations to get out of hand. My son is learning a lot of the things that will help him succeed in life: emotional regulation, thoughtfulness, kindness, creativity, communication, play, collaboration, and how to have fun! I have been so happy with DLPA, and I am sure you will be too!

Our two girls have been coming to DLP full time, five days a week, since 2015. They have been so happy there that our oldest is only leaving because she is entering kindergarten. The youngest will continue until she enters kinder as well. When we started at DLP, it was quite a transition because the girls had stayed at home with me full time before coming to DLP. We were all very anxious. But the teachers at DLP could not have made the  change happen more smoothly. Their genuine care, play based learning style, stimulating environment, and constant attention make our girls feel so loved and always excited to return. We see the wonderful strides our girls are taking emotionally, socially, and academically since coming here. We also appreciate their healthy food choices and accommodation for our daughter's dairy allergy. Alexis and Ed have created such a special place for our children. We can't be happier with their excellent level of care. We highly recommend DLP!

My son was there three days a week for a short period of time. He was always happy when I picked him up. And wanted to go back to Diamond Little People Academy on his day off.
