Self help for hemorrhoids

I've had hemorrhoids for some time, probably since childbirth decades ago. Mostly manageable but finally had a medical consult. Not considering big interventions but looking for any self-help remedies that people have found effective. Thank you.

See a pelvic floor therapist. So much you can do to strengthen and repair.

I love Bayo Vista Physical Therapy. Out of network but well worth it— not all PFT is created equal and they are beyond brilliant and effective.

I take “Hem-Relief” which is a dietary supplement and I think it really helps. You can find it on Amazon.

Yes! I was recently diagnosed with hemorrhoids. After a particularly bad episode after a weekend of eating not my usual foods, I googled foods that aggravate hemorrhoids. The article noted wheat, dairy, processed meats (lol pepperoni pizza and ice cream), alcohol, caffeine. I cut all out immediately and soon felt much better. After a few weeks I experimented with adding back small amounts individually. For me, the dairy and processed meats are the main triggers. I am pretty irritated with my doctor for not letting me know that food could be a trigger. He had told me to walk and drink water, which I was already doing, so I was perplexed by this really bad attack. Good luck!

Herb Lore hemorrhoid salve is great. I used it post partum. Also witch hazel can be helpful.

I’m sorry to say I’ve had the same problem since having babies years ago. However, being proactive when I notice the beginnings of a flare up makes a huge difference. Here’s what works: sitz bath with epsom salt, witch hazel, and prescription hemorrhoid ointment. Good luck to you!
