Record player - reviving an old one

We are trying to revive an old record player to give to our son for his 16th birthday. Looking for a local merchants that can help repair / service it to have it ready to give - looking to find someone to do an overall check, replace the needle if needed, check the speakers / amplifier, help us figure out connecting a bluetooth, etc. Or if there is a good website that can help, we'll take that too.

There used to be a place on University Ave but they closed. Search for "vintage audio" or "vintage hifi" or related and you may find something. What a great idea! My son basically does the same thing, tinkering with old audio gear he finds on the street. He loves his LPs. Future audiophiles!

The place on University mentioned by a previous poster was the Sound Well, a wonderful shop. Out of curiosity, I looked to see whether the S.W. still has an on-line presence, and they do:  http://www.thesoundwell.com/

(Note that I'm not sure the Berkeley and S.F. repair shops mentioned are around any more, but calling the Sound Well might turn up someone else.) Good luck; both our sons-in-law are vinyl fans who cherish their turntables.
