Piedmont Dog Walker and Off Leash areas

We moved from SF where our 7 yr old g shepherd mix had a great dog walker who did hour walks with him to lots of places, off-leash parks and more. Is there anyone I should check out that could help us keep our boy active? I really want him to be able to run, with or without other dogs, but we don’t have much in the way of big grassy lawns or beaches near us for him to really get him running. I’ll also take off-leash area recommendations for weekends, what’s good in East bay?

highly recommend our dogwalker, Jarlaen, with Dogtown Hikes. She has been walking Pogo (and dogsitting when we're out of town) for multiple years, and our dog is so happy. We live in Oakland adjacent to Piedmont, so I suspect she'd be open to adding you to her team. She does have a 2 day/week minimum.

Happy to respond to any other questions. We are grateful for her care and attentiveness!

Albany Bulb. Point Isabel. Tilden Park trails...be mindful of Coyotes.

Our pup used to do pack walks with Marya (East Bay Dog Adventures) and now goes with Kira (Earth Girl Dog Walker) and we absolutely love both of them (we only switched because of scheduling needs not because we didn’t love Marya!). Kira takes our dog three times a week on off-leash hikes or to the beach with a group of other dogs and he comes home happy and exhausted! We have also boarded our dog with both Marya and Kira and they take the best care of him.

Sibley Volcanic Regional Park is an off leash open space (unless they have cattle grazing) with great hiking trails. As long as your doggo is good under voice command, then this is an awesome option.

Hello! We’re in North Berkeley so can’t recommend our amazing dog walker but for family outings check out Albany Bulb, Cesar Chavez Park and Point Isabelle for off lead fun, my energetic terriers love them!

I highly recommend Hounds About the Town 510-967-6339.  Russell, the owner, is based in Oakland just down the hill from Piedmont.  He has been a professional dog walker and sitter for many years and recently started Hounds, his own dog walking business.  He is wonderful with dogs - our little fellow adores him - and just a very nice and responsible person all around.

Hello,

I don't know if he serves the Piedmont area, but you could try Tito Aquino who runs and owns "Tito's Dog Walking and Boarding." We've used him in the past, and he is good with our dog. He has a new van that is fitted with cages to ensure safe transport for trips to Tilden, etc. His # is 510-426-0608.

I second all of the other recommendations for off-leash places (esp. Tilden, the Bulb, Berkeley Marina, and Point Isabel).

Good luck,
Linda
