Family therapist for daughter-father conflict

I am looking for recommendations for a family therapist to address ongoing conflict between my 13-year-old daughter and my husband. They are constantly butting heads over schoolwork, her attitude, etc. and my attempts to mediate are not working. He thinks she is disrespectful and spoiled, she thinks he hates her, and it's gotten pretty toxic. We also have a younger child who is negatively affected by this. Ideally would like someone either located in the Oakland/Piedmont area or offering remote sessions. Thanks!

Hi, sorry you're all dealing with this. We had some similar things with our now 17 year old son. While I don't have a therapist to recommend for this, I do have a book to suggest that really helped my husband and I deal with our son doing things his own way, in his own (totally frustrating to us time):

"The Self Driven Child"

I wish I had read this when my kid was 5 but even reading it when he was 15 has helped SO MUCH.

Check it out.

I'm really sorry to hear this -- and good for you for seeking help. We can recommend Taryn Thomas, in Berkeley - great with families and with teens. She helped our teen (and our family) a lot! tarynmthomas [at] live.com (tarynmthomas[at]live[dot]com) http://www.tarynthomastherapy.com
