Custom Upholstery Recommendations

Happy New Year wonderful people! Coming to this group as we're working on a kitchen remodel, and adding in a dining banquette as part of the project. The base is cabinets (huzzah storage!), and we'd love to have custom cushions/backing made to make the bench seating more comfortable. Does anyone have recommendations for folks who specialize in this area? Hoping this wide, wise network will come through with some much-needed advice, as our DIY capabilities are non-existent.

Teal major in Albany or Berkeley made custom cushions for us and was fabulous!

Jo-Ann Fabrics or Etsy.

Famous Foam Factory in Berkeley, would be a great option.

I have had quite a bit of custom upholstery done at Umphred Furniture on San Pablo near University. They are fantastic to worth with.

A second recommendation for Teal (business is named Slips). She made us custom roman shades using fabric I had purchased at the Alameda flea market 25 years ago! They are so beautiful -- they are the centerpiece of my bedroom.

Designer here! I agree that Etsy can be a cost-effective way to source custom cushions.

I recommend Ismael of Ismael's Upholstery (www.ismaelsupholstery.com), who can be reached at (925) 216-7415.  During the early part of the pandemic, he reupholstered two armchairs for us, using striped fabric that was a bit tricky to use because I barely had enough fabric!  Recently, he reupholstered all of our dining chairs and bar stools and the work came out beautifully.  He's a nice guy, and has a lot of fabrics to choose from.
