Be careful in dealing with Quarry Lane. This is a for-profit school and the owner makes all decisions. Construction of the new high school is way behind schedule. Middle/high school faculty turnover is 5 out of 9. The school won't refund son's application fee for grade 10, even though they canceled the grade due to low enrollment. They won't refund daughter's grade 9 deposit, either, even though the high school has no building and only a dozen students.

Quarry Lane High School is still taking applications for admissions and scholarsips (both merit and need) for 9th and 10th grade for 2006-2007. The new high school building is under construction on the same site as the middle school: it will have over 70,000 sq ft of classrooms, gym, library, labs, underground parking, plus athletic fields. My daughter attends middle school there and we love the people and teachers. The classes are small, the parents are involved, the teachers love their jobs. The kids are bright, polite, imaginative and support each other. Quarry Lane has operated preK and lower grades since 1991 and has a great reputation among East Bay parents. My children attend the Quarry Lane School in Dublin. They received an excellent education. The faculty is highly qualified and knows each student\x92s strengths and weaknesses. The school offers honors math and science in middle school and enrichment courses such as dance, stock investing, gourmet cooking, and science. A Leadership class teaches students how to organize group events and assume leadership roles. A team of girls won the Exploravision National Science Competition in 2002. They are strong in math and science, but emphasize writing. The school does not pressure the children, but teaches them to think critically. The kids play lots of sports and the school boasts some great athletes, including 2 Junior Olympic runners. The high school (opening fall 2006) will have state-of-the- art science labs, an art studio, and soccer and tennis courts. It will offer scholarships and financial aid. Many existing teachers have advanced degrees and will teach at the high school. For this reason, I believe the high school will produce academic achievers in a friendly, positive social environment.
A Very Satisfied parent

Our middle school experience this year with Quarry Lane has been very positive. Next year will be the first high school year for this school and for me, it's the perfect combination of traditional school and independent study. The curriculum is traditional, but the small class size (12 for grade 8) means that your child is never forgotten. Most of the classes ''loop,'' so that your child's math/lang arts teacher already knows strengths and weaknesses. Grades 6 - 10 will be moving into a new 71,000 sq ft building in Sept 2006, with a gym, library, sci labs, underground parking, sports fields. But the best thing in my opinion is the type of teacher my child had this year: these people want to teach, they (mostly) were professionals before they chose to enter teaching, and they bring energy and enthusiasm to school. They really care about the kids. The kids themselves pick up on this, and they show concern and respect for one another. If it isn't obvious, I'm really happy with our decision to enroll at Quarry Lane. The school is well-known for the preschool and lower grades, but alot of people don't know about the middle and high school. There's a waiting list, I think, for the lower grades. But the upper grades are still taking applications. Kids can visit and shadow a student to get the feel of the place.
