Tashi has taken such great care of our son from the time he was 6 months old. She is a wonderful caregiver and loves the kids so much. Our son has thrived this past year under her care. He loves going to daycare every day.

From the day I met Tashi, I knew I could entrust our son with her. I had gone to view many other daycares and I didn’t feel at ease until I stepped into hers. Her love for kids is undeniable and she shows such warmth to every one of them everyday. I feel so comfortable with my son in her care.

Every day when we pick up our son, she will give us updates on his eating (how many bowls of rice & dal he ate), bowel movements, and sleep. I really appreciate that she keeps track of all of this for us and lets me know. I constantly see her playing with all the kids outside even after a full day with kids (I don’t know how she does it). My son is always smiling and happy to see me so I know he has had a great day with her.

As a new mom, I’m so grateful that Tashi has cared & continues to care for my son during COVID. She continues to follows safety protocols (daily temperature checks, wearing a mask, etc) and has made sure she keeps a safe environment for all the children.

I highly recommend Tashi & would gladly be a reference.

Tashi's daycare is the only place I would trust my child to be safe and genuinely loved. We started our son at her daycare when he was 4 months old in Feb 2021. Due to COVID protocols, all daycares in this area were operating at reduced capacity and were refusing to take infants. We were also very picky after having undergone a very unfortunate experience at a different daycare in Albany run by a husband and wife couple. Our son immediately warmed up to Tashi and her assistant Kypa. A few highlights from our experience:

- Sleep: Our son learned how to nap independently at Tashi's! It was amazing. We have been through some tough months getting the sleep situation figured out but we know for sure he naps long and well during the week.

- Milk and Meals: We were struggling initially giving him the bottle, but like everything else Tashi figured it out. As the previous reviewers have mentioned, the rice and daal is wonderful. Our son apparently asks for more than one helping! Tashi also provides fresh seasonal fruits for snacks. She also has a garden with fruits, vegetables, and herbs and some of the older children get to pick out fresh veggies.

- Playtime: Both the indoor play area and the back yard are much larger and more spacious than any other daycares I have personally visited. This was a major criteria for us. We wanted our child to be able to explore and feel different textures. She also has a sand pit and a newly installed swing set. There is no shortage of toys at this place :)

Due to COVID and all ongoing travel restrictions, we have had no familial support through this time. We are so grateful to Tashi and Kypa for providing the authentic love and care that filled this gap for us and our child.

It is very unfortunate that there are multiple citations for this daycare, which have resulted from repeat monthly inspections. While we are grateful to the DSS for conducting such thorough inspections to ensure the safety of our children, we are also well informed by Tashi about each situation. We are aware that Tashi has learned and corrected the violations. We trust Tashi and Kypa as caregivers and we will continue to have our child in her care. Highly recommend and happy to be a reference.

Tashi is a truly amazing caretaker.  She provided such a warm and loving setting for my son at ages 1-3 years.  The things we loved most about Tashi:

  • Play: almost every afternoon at pick up I would see Tashi playing with the kids in the backyard; she is truly active and WITH the kids.  They are always laughing so much with her, and learning.
  • Meals: Tashi's lentil dahl is the most amazing meal - she makes it daily and blends in various veggies.  Every day at drop off just smelling the aroma, I was wishing I could pack some for my lunch :)  It's very nutritious and the kids love it.
  • Naps & Potty Training: Tashi has the magic touch.  Upon my son's first visit she was able to easily put him down for a nap.  And much to our disbelief, she started potty training our son at 18 months, and it was so easy for us to follow suit at home.

I often think how grateful we are to have had Tashi in our son's life.  She gave him the love, care and play that he needed in his first few years.  I can't recommend her enough.

Our two boys adore Tashi! She cared for our oldest (rising to Kindergarten in the fall) from a baby through age 3, and now watches our youngest who is 17 months. Tashi is a rare find and loves the kids as if they were her own. All the more reason why our family has grown very close to her over the years.

We can’t say enough great things about her daycare and highly recommend it for any family seeking a fun, loving, and safe environment for their young children. Here are just a few highlights from our experience:

  • Potty Training: Tashi potty trains all the kids as soon as they are ready (our youngest started at 17 months). She makes the process positive, fun, and rewarding—the kids actively want to partake. We still aren’t sure how she does it, but her tremendous patience is certainly part of her secret. This has saved us literally hours of work and stress at home. All the parents rave about this!
  • Daily Vegetarian Meals: Tashi’s rice and dal! This meal has a special place in our kids’ hearts. As one of the cool cultural perks of Tashi’s Tibetan heritage, she makes a daily vegetarian meal (curried lentils) that the kids go crazy for. To the point where I had to ask Tashi for the recipe because our oldest kept demanding it at home.
  • Great, Spacious Outdoor Area: Tashi has spent a lot of time and money transforming her backyard into a fun play area with plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged: a vegetable garden, swing set, giant sand box, play house, and toy cars to scoot around.

Of course, now with COVID-19, safety is more important than ever to us. Tashi has done a good job of implementing protocols (daily temperature checks, wearing a mask, etc.) to adapt and has been very open to parent feedback.

We could really go on. We feel lucky that we met Tashi and would be happy to be a reference for any families considering her daycare as option for their kiddos.

My family has been extremely picky when it comes to choosing people that we feel comfortable caring for our daughter. We screened no less than 20+ providers before we made a selection.  So much so, we even had to expand our search outside our city.  That said, we can say that Tashi exceeded all our expectations, and our expectations were very high.  Tashi began caring for my daughter when she was 9 months old. And I can honestly say that she felt like a second mom to her. She is so loving. You can genuinely tell that she cares for children in her care as though they were her own children.  My daughter is the type that doesn't just take to anyone.  But she formed such a close loving bond with Tashi. Under her care, Tashi got my daugher on a consistent nap schedule (she was not before), guided her to successfully be potty trained, & most importantly kept her safe. Tashi was wonderful in communicating with us about her day (even the little things).  Over the years, I have found that communication with your child's care provider is so vital when you are a working parent. I never had to worry about that with Tashi.  She was always proactive in letting us know everything about our daughter's day.  And like others have commented, it is also true with my daughter that Tashi's rice & dal is still her go-to comfort food of choice. (Graciously, Tashi taught us how to cook it. My daughter still wants it for lunch several times a week.)  I can understand the anxiety involved in choosing a person to care for your child. The amount of trust involved in that decision is enormous. My husband and I still comment how incredibly fortunate we were that our daughter got such loving care during the most vulnerable first years of her life. We are very fortunate to have been able to find someone that we could trust.  We will forever be grateful to Tashi for that.

We adore Tashi and her daycare staff. Tashi started caring for our daughter Scarlett at 5 mos old. So she has been an integral part of our family for 2 years. My daughter is now 2.5 years old. As a new Mom returning to work full time, my husband and I wanted to ensure we found someone who would love and care for our daughter as her own. From the moment Tashi held our daughter in her arms, we knew she would receive plenty of love and affection. Tashi is very in touch with children and has a natural ability to understand and foster development of each child’s individual and unique personality. Tashi potty trained my daughter at 18 mos old using her gentle and stress free approach.

We love that Tashi takes a play based approach, with the kids playing outside the majority of the day. Tashi places great value on the natural world and I can see my daughters love of simple things, like a bird chirping or a bee buzzing by. My daughter loves the swing, vegetable garden and the delicious rice and dal she is served everyday for lunch. Tashi greets my daughter with a smile and a hug (pre-covid) each day.
Tashi is all of the wonderful things you could hope for in a childcare provider: caring, sensitive, calm, patient, gentle, good with boundary setting, loving, knowledgeable about child development and has an innate ability to understand each child’s unique personality. If your looking for a wonderful place for your child to learn and grow each day, Tashi’s is the place for you.

Tashi is such a wonderful, kind caregiver! We got to know her while my daughter was at Applejacks and we continued to have her babysit even after we moved on to preschool. I think it takes a special person to work with little ones all day and Tashi is definitely that! She is very patient and loving. My daughter is an only child and I had a hard time finding the right solution for affordable, quality childcare. We started when my daughter was 8 months old, and then saw her thrive. Highly recommend Tashi!

You will love Tashi!! All my three kids have been with Tashi for more than four years. She is really good with kids and know how to handle kids emotions. That's all rooted from her years of experience and her love of children. She created a very natural environment to potty train my kids. Day care is always very organized. She is also very observant. I'm always impressed by her comments about my each kids. I know she knows them by heart. Strongly recommend Tashi's day care.

Our son started at Tashi's daycare at 5 months and is now 2.5 and we have had a great experience. Tashi's love for all the kids is so apparent. We love that it is a play-based daycare and that they spend the majority of their time outside in the backyard where there are lots of fun things to do. Tashi took the lead in potty training our son starting at 18 months which is a huge benefit. Our son loves Tashi and is so happy at this daycare. He will be leaving for preschool in a couple months, but we are expecting another baby and plan to send her to Tashi's when the time comes.

Tashi is fantastic! She took care of my two daughters when they were at Tashi’s former school, Applejacks. She has a wonderful calm, patient, no-nonsense loving approach to childcare. She is comfortable and confident in the face of all the varying moods of children, from newborns to school age kids. She taught both of our daughters some Tibetan language and to this day (3 years later) they still consider rice and dal the ultimate comfort food. I would recommend Tashi to any parent looking for a loving and solid childcare provider!

Tashi is a loving caretaker. My daughter loves her. Tashi is extremely attentive and really works with parents to help them feel comfortable. My daughter was under Tashi’s care for 2 years. Tashi employs a play-based approach and operates like a nature-based daycare. As a new mom working outside the home, I felt really lucky that Tashi was daughter’s our primarily caretaker.
