Parents, please Sign in to post a review on this page.My daughter has been at Talking Hands for about 1 1/2 years and she started when she was 4 months old. She loves it and I have loved her experience. When she was an infant, she got exceptional care. Lots of snuggle time, separate room for sleeping and lots of personal attention. They worked with me to get her on a good schedule that worked for her. As she has gotten older, she has been able to really utilize their full facility (painting, coloring, music, puzzles, building blocks, etc...). They have a smallish backyard but there is still plenty of space to run and play. They always get indoor/outdoor play time and they provide all the food (hot meals, made from scratch). They are fluent in sign language and my daughter uses ASL constantly when she speaks. I cannot speak more highly about our time at Talking Hands.
Our kids have been attending Talking Hands full-time for about a year and a half, and we have loved it. This home-based daycare is located at the El Cerrito/Richmond border near the I-80/I-580 freeways. The kids at the daycare range in ages from 3 months to 4 years. It is run by two young women, who are wonderful with the kids – always gentle and loving, even when correcting them. It has several rooms specifically set aside and designed for the children in bright colors, with a range of toys, small furniture, and books (and no TV). Everything is orderly, safe, and clean. During the day, the teachers have art, reading, and other activities planned. They also teach sign language as a second language. There is also an outside play area where the children spend time every day. Lunches and snacks are provided. The daycare is open from approximately 7:30 am to 6:30 pm everyday. My husband I feel so lucky to have found Talking Hands, and have never worried about our children’s care while they are there.

There are a few openings available at my daughter's daycare located in the Richmond Annex. Talking Hands is a small, nurturing environment with an excellent ratio of usually no more than 3 children to 1 teacher. Nawal and Hassna both have very calm dispositions and give their undivided attention to the children. I am always amazed at how well the children of all ages play together and how well Nawal can tailor activities to the different developmental stages. They also provide hot, organic meals every day. My daughter started there as an infant and has flourished under their care.

I have nothing but good things to say about Talking Hands Daycare. I visited over a dozen day cares (in Richmond, Albany, El Cerrito, and Berkeley) before choosing to put my child here. Nawal and her assistant, Hessna, are really warm, patient, and caring individuals. I am a first time mom and putting my baby in daycare for 8 to 9 hours a day was really difficult for me, but Nawal and Hessna really put me at ease. I can drop off my daughter in the morning knowing that she will be in taken care of while I'm at work. They have openings right now. I recommend you go and visit the facility. The daycare is right off 80/580.

I highly recommend Talking Hands Daycare on Carlson in the Richmond Annex area. My 8 month-old daughter has been attending Talking Hands for the past 5 months and we have been very happy with the quality of care she is receiving. Talkind Hands is a very peaceful, supportive environment for the children and Nawal teaches the kids American Sign Language. The location is also convenient to both 580 and 80.
They're still open. My son has gone there for two years now, they're great. When I google talking hands the number that shows up is the number I have in my phone.
