Nena’s Playhouse is a bilingual (Spanish/English) home daycare providing childcare and early learning services for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children in a play-based learning environment. Colors, shapes, numbers, and letters are introduced in preparation for a higher learning setting. Children participate in dramatic play, building block construction, reading, and physical activities. Enclosed outdoor area features riding toys and equipment for use during free time. I have 10+ years of childcare experience and currently working on getting my degree in early childhood education. Genesis is absolutely amazing! My daughter started with her at 3.5 months old. I get regular updates and adorable photos letting my know my little girl is having a great time and is in great hands! She has learned so much as well. She just turned two and can count to 20 and sings the full ABCs, I definitely cannot take credit for that. My daughter has loved her time there so much. Only reason we are leaving is because it’s time for preschool.
Cannot recommend Genesis and Nena’s Playhouse more!!!
My daughter started with Genesis when she was 3 months old. My son had a nanny so this was my first time having my baby at a daycare and I was very nervous. It has been nothing but a wonderful experience! My daughter has developmental delays and Genesis supports her development and helps with her exercises. She is so nurturing and genuinely cares about each individual child.
I sent my almost 2-year-old to Nena's Playhouse (Genesis) for a few months before she was able to join her older brother at another preschool. My daughter transitioned well to Genesis and the four existing kids there. Genesis is warm, responsive, friendly and flexible. We were usually the first to drop off and last to pick up. The hours are pretty limited (8am-430pm) but it worked for us. Genesis took the kids out whenever possible to the library or park. I also liked the updates and photos of our child during her time at Nena's Playhouse. Genesis's place is pretty cozy inside and has a small back area for the kids to play in when the weather is nice. I felt good taking our daughter there and would have stayed longer if we didn't already arrange for her to start preschool with her brother. Our daughter really enjoyed going there and misses Genesis ALOT!
Our family first started working with Genesis nearly six years ago when our then one-year-old son was attending 'California Family Daycare' in Berkeley. Genesis was working there part time while she was going to school and our son loved playing with her whenever she was there. The bilingual curriculum was great and I was amazed when I saw him learn to understand Spanish as easily as he understood English. After our kiddo "graduated' to a more formal pre-school program at three years old, Genesis continued to babysit for us in our home. She is kind, reliable and fantastic with children (not to mention a great cook!). I am so excited she now has a daycare of her own! Our son is already in first grade, but if we had to start all over again, I would feel very lucky to send him to Nena's Playhouse.
This review is for the owner Genesis. Our two children have received care from her through her mother's home-based daycare service since 2015, from age 6 months to 6 years. In her interactions with them and the other kids at the daycare, she has consistently shown her ability to manage multiple children with hands-on activities, stories, meals, and diaper/potty needs. She is warm, reliable, and nurturing. In addition, she is an accomplished baker! Our children are extremely fond of Genesis. We highly recommend her for your childcare needs.
