About the Program:

Opening 1 and walking M-Th

For over 21 years I have been educating and caring for young children. I have a B.A in Child Development and an AA in Social Behavioral Science. I hold a Program Directors Permit through the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and I have been a Professional Growth advisor for First five of Alameda County. I have currently completed 60hrs of training in the PITC (Program for Infant and toddler Care) Institute.

I have spent five years as a Program Director for a private school and many years teaching young children. My passion is to create an environment for young children where they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential by offering a learning environment that stimulates them both cognitively and socially.

I can't say enough great things about Happy Feet Day Care and Meccah! Meccah is an impeccable woman. We are so lucky to have her take care of our son. She always has a great and positive attitude and takes care of our little one with such great care. We learned of her since my daughter and her son are classmates. Our son and her twins are two weeks apart. Our son has been cared for a nanny until his first year of age. We weren't sure how well he would adjust in a new environment. On his first day at day care, he fit right in and he loved playing with all the toys at the day care. He didn't even cry when I left him! She has great recommendations for our son and is  great resource for anything child-related. The hours at the day care are great. When we pick up our son from Happy Feet, he doesn't want to leave! We are so grateful for Meccah and we highly recommend Happy Feet Nursery.

On a scale of one-to-ten, I give Happy Feet a 15. Eight out of five stars. 120% awesome. And all the other ways I can find to describe how much our time with Ms. Meccah exceeded anything I could have hoped for from daycare. My daughter started with Meccah when she was about 14 months old. Not only was the location close to our home and jobs, but the hours are amazing, pick-up and drop-off are so easy, and I'm so grateful my daughter got to spend about two and a half years growing up there. I don't know where to start, but the things that stand out the most follow: We got an enormous amount of support and encouragement in potty training. My daughter learned mealtime manners I didn't even know she was able to show. She also learned some leadership skills, as she was the oldest one there for her last year, and she liked helping with the younger children. Agnes often came home with projects we would talk about, or new phrases and songs she had learned from books that they read together. I really feel like Meccah's family is a part of ours, and I will always value how well she cared for Agnes while we were there. A few technical things: CLEAN. This house is so clean! Having toured a few in-home daycares a preschools, I can honestly say this is the cleanest daycare I've ever seen. Meals are very healthy. Ms. Meccah's is a vegetarian household, and Agnes came home with healthy eating habits, too. The neighborhood is great, too. Parking is easy. I'm going to miss saying hello to the neighbors now that we are at preschool. Meccah was also extremely helpful when it came time to start looking at preschools. She's been in the industry a long time, and knows a lot about options, and what to look for in the next step of the journey. I just cannot say enough about how well supported I have felt by her.

Miss Meccah is a amazing! My daughter started at Happy Feet when she was about 8 months old and had a seamless transition to full days of day care.  She immediately bonded with Miss Meccah and was always so happy to go to "school." If my daughter was every dilly-dallying on her way out the door, all I had to say was that we were headed to see Ms. Meccah and she would be waiting at the door. Ms. Meccah was also such a wonderful resource to me. I work in early childhood policy and am surrounded by a lot of early childhood specialists, and Ms. Meccah not only was up to date on best practices in early childhood education, but also had so many years of wisdom to share with me every day. She clearly loves the kids and finds as much joy as a family member would in their development. My daughter started potty training at Ms. Meccah's at 15 months, started to learn the letters of her name, became interested in art, music, reading. She started to empathize with other people's feelings, went through some rough stages (difficulty popping, experimenting with hitting) and was always met with gentle patience. I couldn't recommend Miss Meccah more highly to anyone. She's a wonderful person, became part of our family and took the education, love and and guidance of our baby as seriously as I do.

We were lucky enough to find Ms. Meccah when we were seeking care for our then- 3 month old baby. She was truly a godsend, and during the 15 months he was in her care, Meccah was an essential part of his growth from newborn to crawler, to walker, to rambunctious toddler. Happy Feet is a warm, clean, and nurturing environment and Meccah provides a perfect balance of play and developmental activities. During our time there, she kept the group very small and we always felt that our child received a ton of "lap time" and attention. As any working parent knows, leaving a baby to be cared for by others is a painful and stressful thing, and I don't know how we would have fared if we hadn't been totally confident that he was in the best of hands. We would have happily stayed with Meccah much longer, but unfortunately we moved across town and the logistics became impossible. Finding new care that matches what we had at Happy Feet has been a challenge, to say the least. If you have the opportunity to place your child in Meccah's care, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

2013

We have been going to Happy Feet for over a year now and cannot recommend Meccah Coleman's in-home daycare enough. My two girls have loved the comfortable and educational atmosphere, great outdoor play-space, and the yummy (healthy)snacks that Ms. Meccah has to offer. We were very lucky to find her when I got my job last May. Meccah usually has 4-5 kids aged 4 mo.-3.5 years but has an opening as my oldest is moving onto preschool (3.5 yrs.). I'm happy that I will be able to keep sending my younger daughter(18 mo.) and I hope that another 18 mo. old will be available to be her playmate soon! A spot for an older child (up to 5 yrs) is also available. Meccah is energetic, fun, and always has creative activities for the kids to do. She has 19 years experience, a BA in childhood development, and stays on top of developments in early childhood education and health. Give me a call and I'd be happy to talk about our experience! Or you can email Meccah directly at msmeccah [at] sbcglobal.net.
