I'd like to add another ringing endorsement for Granny's daycare. Francis (Granny) offers a caring, nurturing environment in a small home-based setting. In a word, she is awesome.

As a first-time parent, I left my daughter in good hands at three months. Now she's almost 3 and moving on to preschool, and we are sorry to have her leave Granny's warm nest. I never had a moments worry, as Granny was not only knowledgeable about working with small children, but also was more than willing to work with me to understand what I wanted, what my needs and priorities were. Not only is she wonderful, caring, and as loving towards my daughter as I am, but she's affordable. In more than one way, she was a gift to our small family and I am so grateful that I found her (through this list!).

If you are looking for care in a small setting (no more than 3-4 children) I give my highest recommendation for Granny. I'll be out of town August 30-September 8th, but before then please do not hesitate to get in touch by phone or email for even more glowing details.

Francis (called Granny by one and all) can be reached at 510-534-0455.

I am a parent writing to let people know that there are 2 openings at Granny's Daycare in Maxwell Park. My daughter has been with Granny since she was 5 months old and is now 3 and moving on to preschool. Granny has become like family to us. She is kind, loving, and considers all her daycare kids ''her babies''. She only takes 3 to 4 kids at a time so as to give them the attention they need. She is also very affordable. As you can tell I highly recommend her! Her name is Frances and you may contact her at:510-534-0455 I am also happy to answer any questions. Regina

Our 2 1/2 year old is graduating out of Granny's Day Care in East Oakland (off 580 at High St.). We have been with Granny's for over a year and found her to be absolutely wonderful! She only cares for 3 children, so it is a very intimate and loving environment and very tailored to the individual children. Granny is very flexible, and also very affordable. We have been attending 3-4 days week for $500/month. It's a small space with two other 2 year-olds so appropriate for younger children (all of the current toddlers started there as babies). Our daughter has loved going there and Granny has wonderful relationships to her and the other two girls. We are more than willing to answer any questions. To contact Granny directly, call 510-534-0455.
