Oct 2012Our eldest went to El Cerrito Co-op when Anne was a teacher there. Our second daughter (eight years younger) was very delayed in her speech and large motor skills. We tried nannys, but they were not good for her development. Then I remembered that Anne opened her own ''home'' daycare that other co-op friends raved about. WHAT A PERFECT FIT! Anne's school was quite full at the time, but she was willing to take our daughter at 18 months even though she was still only crawling and really had no speech. She and her husband who own and run the daycare seemed to give our daughter exactly what she needed to grow and develop, quickly catching up to her peers!!! They do A LOT of one-on-one activities and have a very big space since their ''home'' is really just a daycare with only one bedroom and a private bathroom for adults only. I cannot express how thankful and blessed we have felt having our daughter in their care. They really made us feel like they cared for our daughter as if she was their own. I wholeheartedly recommend Anne and Ashawn 100%.

We feel like we found a hidden gem in Anne's Montessori Day Care. Anne and Ashan are a husband and wife team who provide a warm, safe and loving environment for kids, with gentle encouragement for learning and growing.
I was one of those nervous moms, afraid to leave her son
with anyone and I shopped around a lot! I could not be
happier with my choice. My son has blossomed with Ashan and
Anne. In addition, their services are very affordable.

Teacher Anne has provided a caring, fun, and exciting learning experience for our 2 boys. Fro m reading, to writing, and arts and crafts our sons have progressed very well. Anne and Ashan have provided a very warm and caring atmosphere for the children. They love the activities pr ovided by Teacher Anne. Whether it's learning about the life cycle of a butterfly to learning about the planets of the Solar System, Anne has made it a fun experience for them. We would highly recommend Anne's school to anyone with children between 3 and 5 who want to encourage development prior to grade school within an intimate, fun energetic group of teachers and kids . Our son is thriving under Teacher Anne and Ashan. He started when he was 2 and is now 4 Her program is wonderful. It's a small based daycare that combines light Montessori to a supportive structure. The kids are a very diverse group and Anne lovingly cares for all the children. She keeps you updated on your child's progress and is very flexible to your needs. She really prepares your kids for Kindergarten. I've kept in touch with many of the parents who's children went off to school and they are well advanced in their classes because she took the time to make sure they were learning and having fun. Our son can do all his lowercase and uppercase letters and has a lot of fun playing with the other kids. She is really good about not pushing them if they aren't ready. The kids are at all different developmental levels and she works with all their needs. She helps them learn motor skills, creativity, story time, and many other things. Jump Bunch comes once a week for parents interested in providing there kids with a little something extra and she holds a Halloween and Holiday party each year. The kids learn to sign songs and play respectfully with each other. Kim

Under Teacher Anne's care and tutelage, my daughter thrived and was well-prepared for kindergarten. She started attending daycare at 18 months and I never worried about her safety and happiness. Moreover, the variety in the curriculum that included planting a vegetable garden and baking bread to complement typical school lessons made learning fun. I highly recommend Teacher Anne for families living in El Cerrito who are looking for an intimate and loving environment. It's more than a school, it's a family. For our son, First we had a nanny share for 6 months, which was not a good fit. Then we decided to find a child care provider and checked out many options in Berkeley, Albany and El Cerrito. None fit all our needs better than Ann's Montessori & Daycare. Ms.Ann met almost every qualification & expectation we had for a provider and a site. She provided 3 yrs of childcare/preschool for our son and left only because he started Kindergarten.
My son felt completely safe and secure in her home. She offers various arts and educational activities, as well as healthy snacks. The kindness and patience in which she showed to all of her children was outstanding. Her home was always clean and child proof. All the children got along and became a tight knit group.I really appreciated the small home type atmosphere.
I would definitely recommend Ann's Montessori & Daycare. Ann also has a background in teaching which gives her the experience and strong abilities to connect with children, she definitely offers everything a family would want in a provider. Suzanne R.

If you are looking for a Preschool/Montessori for your child, I want to recommend Ann's Montessori Daycare/Preschool in El Cerrito/Richmond border on Carlson Ave. Easy access to and from 880. Ann provides a warm, loving, educational environment and my niece & I just love her! She takes an interest in each child's potential and I love to hear her talk about all of the kids. She gets so excited planning projects for them, which makes me excited to see how she cares about the kids. I had to make a hard choice of 3 places for my 2 yr old niece who now lives with me and I chose Ann due to the fact she practices the Montessori philosophy and does projects and circle time with the kids along with free play. Due to our family situation, Ann has shown sensitivity to our family needs and I now have to drag my niece to leave preschool instead of dragging her to go. There is a great group of kids ranging from 18 months to 6 yrs. She has full/part time or drop in available. Debbie

Re: Montessori preschool for 2 years old
Hello, I would recommend the licensed Montessori school that my 4yr old
is currently attending. It's Anne's Montessori in Richmond (on Carlson
Blvd near El Cerrito). Anne uses a hybrid system of intergrating
montessori concepts into a pre-school setting. The kids are of mixed
ages and are together in a group setting. She offers part-time and full
time options. My child started at a very young age and was potty trained
at school. She stresses writing skills and the kids take home lots of
project material weekly. Anne loves to teach and does so in a fun
atmosphere. We've been very pleased with our child's progress socially
and academically. Teacher Anne is a very nurturing and caring person and
it's not a strict montessori setting. Phone 510-558-6848.

Teacher Anne, as she is affectionately referred to, has openings
for kids from 15 months to 6 years old. Her hours are 8 am - 6
pm which is great for parents who commute to SF like me. My
daughter has been attending since Sept 2008 and had a very
difficult transition (cried every day for a month.) Teacher Anne
was wonderful, loving and patient and now my daughter loves her
and her daycare. The daycare has a nice balance between being
play-based within a framework of Montessori methods and
tools/toys. In summary, it's a great, intimate, and nurturing
environment for kids.

My 2 year old son has been attending Anne's pre-school & day care for over a year and he's thriving. It's a loving, nurturing and caring environment. Anne is licensed and incorporates both the Montessori and pre-school curricula. She provides lots of educational & developmental activities for growing minds. The kids learn to be independent, to share and interact with other kids of varying ages. There is outdoor playtime, music and art projects.
I would highly recommend Anne's pre-school if you are looking for a place for your toddler. The school is conveniently located on Carlson Blvd near El Cerrito. Anne's phone # 510-558-6848. Thanks, Sonali

I have a 3 ? year old daughter who is active, exploratory,
curious and a quick learner. I needed to find a childcare
provider who offered a stimulating environment that met the
developmental needs of my daughter. I found that person in
Anne, or as my daughter calls her, Teacher Anne . She is a
licenced childcare provider with a background in teaching
the Montessori approach. Her school room environment is set
up in stations that are based on the Montessori philosophy,
and the activities/ daily lessons are based on the
fundamentals of discovery, self exploration ,
communication, and manors. This is a small school, with a
lot of one on one time, I believe she has a few full-time
spaces available. We have been really lucky to have found
Teacher Anne, as she has helped to bring out all of the
amazing qualities that any parent wants to see in their
child, in our daughter.
