The Lafayette Recreation Area is an all-year day-use area ideal for hiking, jogging, fishing, boating and picnicking, located off Highway 24 only one mile from the Lafayette BART station.

Another nice place to hike and picnic is the Lafayette Reservoir (there is a fee for parking). It's also a nice place for a birthday party for pre-teens and teens, since they rent paddleboats and don't seem to outlaw major squirtgun battles (in the spirit of fun, of course). Dogs are allowed but must be leashed and they are not allowed in the water. The entrance is on Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette (take the Acalanes exit). Lisa
