I moved to Benicia about a year and a half ago, and was looking for a pediatrician in the area (at the time my daughter was 12 months old). I was interested in North Bay Pediatrics since they had offices in Benicia and Vallejo, and I ended up interviewing Dr. Alan Sher since he was the only one (at that time) who was available for immediate appointments in Benicia. Since I was planning to continue breastfeeding my daughter past 12 months of age I was looking for a pediatrician who was supportive of this. When I interviewed Dr. Sher he seemed very uniniformed of all of the continued benefits of nursing for both mother and child, and was not supportive of the idea. I was also not that impressed with his interpersonal skills and found him to be a bit condescending.

As a result, I decided to look elsewhere for a doctor I felt more comfortable with. I ended up selecting Dr. George Delgado who has a family practice in Benicia on Columbus Parkway. I found him extremely supportive of continued breastfeeding, and I have found his personal manner with children (and adults) to be very gentle and respectful.
