  • Hi!  We’re looking for an in person teen improv workshop/class.  We live in north Marin but will travel if necessary.  I’m committed  to making this happen so could host or gather kids as well.  Thanks!

Check out Geri Engberg - https://www.perfectlywhelmed.com/Perfectly_Whelmed/Home.html

She ran an Improv class at my child's elementary school but I believe she also has classes for older children and adults. My child had a lot of fun. I'm located in the East Bay and I believe she is too. Perhaps she can suggest some improv classes in the North Bay if the distance is too far for hers.

Thank you for the suggestion Geri!  I will email her to see if she knows of anything in Marin.

If anyone knows of a person that may want to teach a preteen/teen improv class- I can host and gather students as well.  We homeschool and have experience rallying up kids for classes.

  • Hi Folks,

My budding actor here is looking for an online improv or acting class for after school.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

I highly recommend Geri Engberg (https://www.perfectlywhelmed.com/Perfectly_Whelmed/Contact.html). My 4 year old son and I are taking private improv lessons with her, and have had a great time. She normally teaches classes to kids at schools, but is doing zoom classes for a variety of ages right now. Very professional and responsive.

The Berkeley Rep's theater school is second to none -- my child (now a professional working actor) started there in elementary school just for fun, and we found the level of training to be highly professional, with a wonderfully supportive community.    They've moved all their classes online for the duration:  https://www.berkeleyrep.org/school/

  • Parent-Child Improv Class?

    Sep 9, 2020

My son is 4 1/2 and is a natural performer (and director!). I think he would really love some type of theater class, and I'd like to find a class we could attend together. Having taken improv in the past, I thought it might be a good beginning for us. Is there any such class in the Bay Area? And, if so, any in-person classes this fall?

    Thanks!

I suggest reaching out to Geri Engberg, who ran some Improv Classes at my child's elementary school pre-Covid. I believe she also did many classes for home school programs as well. I think she may have converted to Zoom classes, like so many other classes. She's super nice and fun, and I love that she was able to adjust the class to encourage children of all different temperaments and personalities. Her email address is: engberggeri [at] gmail.com  Good luck and have a great time!
