Community SubscriberFounded in 1988, VISIONS Service Adventures offers high school students the opportunity for life-long transformation through hard work and connecting authentically with others.
VISIONS is a 100% tech-free cultural and language immersion summer service program, where students accomplish construction projects, social service with children, and environmental and animal welfare initiatives in different communities around the world.
Kids return from these 1-3 week programs with a broader perspective of the world, more empathetic, and refreshed from being away from their devices. They also gain life-long friendships, a renewed sense of self, and more confidence, and every summer we get feedback from kids telling us how much they valued and loved their experience.

RE: Community Service Opportunity for Teen Son
Our teenage son is going on a community service trip with VISIONS Service Adventures this summer. Their programs focus on community service. They have programs abroad but also some domestic ones, which means airfare might be more affordable. Their 3-week programs in August are a bit less expensive than the 4-week ones in June. We received some financial aid from them too which helped. Francine

RE: Summer abroad recommendation for 15-year-old
I would highly recommend Visions Service Adventures for your daughter looking to spend the summer overseas practicing her language. My daughter went to Guadeloupe for a month last year with the program. The 25 teens worked about 6 hours a day, weekdays, volunteering in various capacities in a remote part of the islands. The people in the area spoke only french so the kids were forced to use thier language skills. The kids also spent time hiking, snorkeling, sailing etc in the afternoons and on weekends. My daughter had a fabulous time! The program was well organized and the kids well supervised. Visions offers programs in spanish speaking destinations as well. aappert
