We’re a ScoutsBSA “girl” troop, comprised of girls drawing from the Albany, Berkeley/Oakland area.  We were founded in May 2019 by a group of five girls who were looking for a more outdoorsy scouting experience.  Two of the original five scouts are close to completing the Rank of Eagle Scout.

Like all ScoutsBSA troops, Troop 42 is youth-led.  BSA uses the “patrol method,” where troop youth leaders develop the troop’s calendar, plan meetings and activities, and mentor/teach each other.  Troop 42’s plan has included camping, hiking, rafting, paddle-boarding, snow camping, skiing, snow boarding, back packing, high adventure trips, biking, cooking outside, signing, playing games, community service, and more.
