Trigger finger, relief and cure?
Hello! I’m in my mid-40s and the trigger finger in both hands (3rd and 4th fingers) has really started impacting my daily life (also former pianist here). I’ve already gotten a cortisone shot in each hand, but the stiffness returns after about 3-6 months. Now I can’t even make a fist. For any of you that can relate, did you seek surgery? Is there any very skilled therapist that can help me get back to some normal functionality of my hands without surgery? Thank you!

I had trigger finger in my dominant hand and was able to heal it without shots or surgery. Once I realized what action was irritating my tendon I stopped doing that. (Grasping a single-edged razor blade to scrape off lime deposits!) Wrapping my hand with an ace bandage at night helped the most to keep the finger from bending. During the day I immobilized the finger as best as I could. There are hand exercises to help on the web as well. Now it has completely gone away. I would try complete rest/ immobilization before jumping into surgery.
