short-term apartment rentals

Hi,

My family are going to be staying in San Leandro for 2 months in autumn 2017.  We are from London and we are taking a sabbatical year travelling around the world with some longer visits while my husband is working as a visiting fellow.  It is all very exciting but I know nothing at all about how to find accommodation that won't cost too much and I was hoping that someone here could offer some advice.  We have 2 kids and I think we'll need a 2 bedroom apartment.  It would be great to be in an area with lots of families so the kids can make friends.  I am going to be homeschooling them though so we don't need to worry about school districts.  Any recommendations for areas to focus our search on and what websites etc to search for furnished accommodation would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Pamfe

Airbnb and sabbatical homes are the two main sites I've used to find short-term furnished rentals. You should expect to pay more for a short-term furnished rental than a longer-term unfurnished rental.

I came across this website recently. There might be some in the area where you are looking. www.sabbaticalhomes.comhttp://www.sabbaticalhomes.com

I'm from London too and I would recommend Alameda. It's not far from San Leandro and it's pretty with lovely old wooden Victorians, loads of trees, it's full of kids and families and there's a beach. You can get the ferry into SF in 20 minutes. I've lived here since 2013 and I love it. It's definitely the 'burbs but it's a great place to live for families with kids and there's so much to do and explore near here.

For 2 months, I would get an AirBNB or similar.

Good luck!

Craig's list is great. Also, contact UCBerkeley,m they have a list for visiting scholars etc and furnished apartments.
