Seeking Recs for Dymondia or Eco-Friendly Groundcover Installer
We’re in the middle of redoing our backyard and are hoping to find someone who can help us install a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant grass alternative that’s also safe for toddlers to play on. We're looking into options like dymondia or possibly a mix of dymondia, clover, and mint. Looking something soft underfoot but less likely to attract too many bees. We had considered kurapia, but after reading some reviews about heavy bee activity, we’re leaning away from it.
I’ve done some searching on Yelp, but most of what I’m finding are traditional lawn or turf installers. We're looking to get this done asap so our kiddos can enjoy playing in the backyard this summer.
Has anyone worked with a company in the Bay Area that specializes in this kind of groundcover? Any sense of cost if so? Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Hello!
I want to second your decision on kurapia. We tried it several years ago and quite unfortunately after many months watering it and all it died. Totally waste of time and money as it was also seasonal and always dried out in patches.
We have dymondia in our front yard and while it took a good 6 months to establish, years later it is super low maintenance and looks great. I just don’t know if it would take heavy foot traffic.
What worked for us in the back with lots of play and dogs is California native blue fescue grass. Watershed nursery have many options and are really informed.
Check out the Bringing Back the Natives site, they have a list of landscape designers who can probably handle this: https://bringingbackthenatives.net/find-a-designer
