Seeking Recommendations for in-Person OCD Therapist for ASD teen
Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out to this wonderful community for some help. I'm looking for recommendations for an in-person therapist who has expertise in both OCD and ASD and takes Kaiser patients please. We live in the east bay area (Pinole, Hercules, Richmond), and finding the right support is crucial for us.
A bit of background: My daughter is a 9th grader who has been diagnosed with contamination OCD. She is also on the autism spectrum. Unfortunately, she has been refusing to participate in virtual therapy and treatment, which makes finding the right therapist even more important for us.
Her OCD manifests as an intense fear of contamination, which significantly impacts her daily life and routines. This has led to increased anxiety and avoidance behaviors, making it challenging for her to engage in typical activities and schoolwork. We believe that a therapist with experience in both OCD and ASD would be best suited to help her navigate these challenges and develop effective coping strategies.
If you know of any therapists or have had positive experiences with someone who fits this description, please share their contact information or any details that might help us get in touch.
Thank you so much for your assistance!

My daughter went to Rogers in Walnut Creek and a lot of Kaiser patients were there, withKaiser paying for it. It’s a “full time” intensive program but summer is coming up maybe that would work?
Otherwise, Kaiser does not have many specialtists in OCD. You must see a person that specializes in OCD/ERP or symptoms could get worse with some other treatments.
OCD is so tough!
You probably want to check out the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). They have a referral section for therapists and programs.
Hello, I want to extend my sympathy as a parent raising a teen with ocd and how big the impact on day to day life can be when it's unmanaged. Our teen is also on the spectrum (late-identified). I want to second the recommendation about Roger's Behavioral Health Center, but also would like to recommend East Bay Behavioral Health Center. The second one I don't believe takes insurance. Finding insurance-covered specialists is challenging. If Roger's is your only option, it's a good one. There may be some wait time to get a spot, but it's worth it. They offer "PHP" (partial hospitalization program) and IOP (Intensive Outpatient / half day). I definitely sympathize w/ the disruption that this can cause to school hours, but it's a worthwhile investment of time and your school district may offer education services that are specifically for a student who is on medical leave.
