Seeking pet chiropractor for aging golden retriever

Hello, all. Our aging golden retriever has back issues which are now affecting her mobility. I am pretty sure that a chiropractor could help, but the one person who our vet referred us to would charge $600 just for the initial evaluation. Acupuncture could possibly help, too. Do you have a practitioner you would recommend? We're in San Francisco, but willing to drive.

I just took my puppy to Holistic Veterinary Care (holisticvetcare.com) in Oakland for rehab post-surgery on his legs, and so far I think they're great. The initial consult was $350 and included up to an hour with the vet and then 30 minutes of rehab which in his case was the water treadmill, but I know they offer chiropractic and acupuncture as well. Might be worth a look! My advice is not to call them, but rather to use the chat feature on their website. They definitely respond faster by email/web than by phone. Good luck!

Hi, I highly highly recommend Dr. Adam at San Francisco Healthy Pets  in West Portal. I connected with Dr. Adam when he was in Oakland at Creature Comfort -- I had an elderly husky who had very severe spinal stenosis and could barely walk so I wanted to try accupuncture as a last-ditch effort. It was kind of amazing. My dog was like a changed dog -- mobile and happier. Oddly, the accupuncture even resulted in fur growing back on his leg after an ACL surgery from a few years prior (he had a bare leg for years!) and his coat changed dramatically for the better. Dr. Adam now has his own practice (SF Healthy Pets) and I go there whenever one of my animals has complex issues. He is intuitive, includes both traditional veterinary medicine as well as holistic. He is truly the most gifted vet I have ever met. sfhealthypets.com
