Seeking Hands-On Help for Skeletal Misalignment & Pain

Hi Everyone.

My 22 year-old son has chronic back pain. He had shoulder surgery to tighten his labrum a year and a half ago. Now his skeletal system is all misaligned--I can see it. We're looking for someone who can work with him hands-on, not just give him exercises to do on his own. He needs guidance. He needs more than chiropractic work. We have Kaiser for insurance but would pay out of pocket if necessary. I'm not sure if he needs PT, an Osteo, Pilates, or what? I'd appreciate all advice and referrals. He's in a lot of pain and it's breaking my heart. Thank you.

My son (now 23) had surgery on his labrum to repair a tear 3 years ago.  It was incredibly painful and the recovery is SLOW. I asked my son what he'd recommend and he said "a really good PT."  Did your son play sports in college by any chance? If so I would reach out to the athletics department to see if they have any recommendations.  Even someone you could call to get a further recommendation.  FWIW, my son still cannot sleep comfortably on his right shoulder (which had the surgery).  And he never regained his full pitching speed. But he is no longer in constant pain at least.

I am really sorry to hear about your son's chronic pain.  He could try one session with Kelly Stock in Lafayette, to see if she has any ideas.  She teaches Pilates and also is a licensed Acupuncturist, and is very knowledgeable.  She noticed that my tibia (or some bone in my shin) is rotated, when I mentioned I had leg issues during a pilates lesson.  But for treatment I'm going to ask my doctor for a referral to p/t.
