Seeking advice on Medicare Advantage and Medicap plans

Hi there!

I'm helping my parents relocate to East Bay and in this process, I'm also helping them transition to Medicare. I'm trying to understand the difference between Medicare Advantage plans, Medicap supplemental plans and whether it makes sense to have one vs the other, or both. I would love to spend 15-30 mins with another BPN parent who has gone through this before. Would love advice!

Thanks so much!!

Dany

Legal Assistance for Seniors has good programs and advice on Medicare.

My husband is approaching retirement and I bought a book on amazon called "Medicare Simplified: What Retirees Need to Know About Medicare in 100 Pages or Less" which was really helpful.  Very clear language and very direct.

While I’m unable to provide personal advice, I would highly recommend contacting HICAP https://cahealthadvocates.org/hicap/. They provide FREE insurance and advocacy support and can definitely answer your questions.

I highly recommend the California Healthcare Advocates free service HICAP. When my father-in-law moved to CA from TX a few years ago to begin cancer treatment, the advocate I worked with was very knowledgeable and helpful in evaluating options and getting appropriate coverage in place.
