Retire in Southern Marin

Has anyone made the move to Southern Marin later in life? Once the last child goes off to college, we're considering moving there due the region's staggering beauty and availability of outdoor activities. Although I'm open to towns like Larkspur, Corte Madera, Ross, Kentfield and Fairfax, I'd prefer Mill Valley or Sausalito to be in a foggy micro climate. Like everyone else, I'm interested in neighborhoods that are walkable to businesses like downtown Mill Valley or places that are a block or two from Miller Avenue. We're open to a condo or townhouse although we'd love to have a lot of storage for vehicles and gear. We'd love to hear suggestions for specific neighborhoods in the communities mentioned. We'll be older so not looking for gritty or up and coming neighborhoods. It would be great to hear the stories of your move and advice you'd give for a similar move.

You might want to research transportation options if you move to Marin. Some of my older friends are no longer able to drive. One alternates their time between the East Bay and Marin and needs to take Ubers or Lyfts to get anywhere. I'm assuming from your post you are a couple, but think about how it would work if only one of you could drive.
