Renting a Piano Before Buying?

We would like to rent a piano for a year to see if it's something that the family takes to, before we commit to purchasing something. During that time, the thought is that the kids as well as one parent would take lessons at our house.  Can someone please provide some recommendations on where we can do this from? And any rough estimates on what something like this could cost would be great. Thank you in advance.

Piedmont Piano.  A wide range of instruments.  We rented a very nice Yamaha upright for a few years.  You are VERY wise to rent before buying.  Unless their contracts have changed, a portion of your rent can be a credit against an ultimate purchase -- like a lease/option to buy.  Nice people.  Local business that's been around for years (although it's changed locations from where I might have sent you -- oops!).

We bought a very inexpensive piano from DC pianos for a starter. I think it was $250 or $300, which included tuning and delivery. They have an upgrade program, so that amount that we paid was credited toward a more expensive piano that we got about 5 years later. It included pickup of the old one and delivery and tuning once again. This worked great for us, but they also do rentals, but they seem to be higher end and prices are listed on their website:http://dcpianos.com/_/product-category/rental-pianos/

Good luck!

Take a look on Craig's List.  I've seen a lot of pianos being given away for free.
