Recent experience getting a minor building permit in Berkeley
Does anyone have recent experience getting a minor building permit in Berkeley? We recently bought a place and need to replace the roof. I expected that this would be a relatively simple, over the counter permit. How much time should I be prepared to spend waiting?
Our insurer is demanding the roof be replaced in a few weeks and I am getting nervous it will be months...

Apply for your permit as owner contractor. I’ve received these permits in one day.
I think when I looked into permits a couple weeks back, they said they are three weeks out. I would start looking for contractors and get bids immediately so you don’t prolong the process.
