Places to get a pair of glasses and contact lenses quickly

My daughter will have the exam at the UC Eye Center, but she'll be heading off to college too quickly to wait for them to make the glasses. (It was hard to get her an appointment in the first place!) So we are looking for suggestions for places that she can get the glasses/lenses within a week or week and a half.

Try West County Optometry located next to the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station. We've used them twice, and the glasses were ready very quickly.

The UC Eye Clinic can mail them to her.  I think they do a good job.  I went to Site for Sore Eyes to get a quick job done but then there were complications and it wasn't as quick as they said it would be.  I have progressives so I really need to be careful about where I get my lenses done but if your daughter has a regular straight lens without those kinds of adjustments, it would probably be OK at one of these quick places......

Buy from zennioptical.com or eyebuydirect.com and have the glasses shipped to her at college.  I've been a happy mail order glasses purchaser for a decade!

Jin's on Powell St. (couple blocks above the BART station) in SF makes glasses while you wait. They have a great selection and are very reasonably priced. I used to buy my glasses at Cal, but now I buy at Jin's.  http://www.jins.com/us/

Can't speak as to glasses, but if you are a Costco member, usually only takes aboit 7 days to get contact lenses. They even called my son on a Sunday when they came in and were ready for pickup.

My son needed a replacement pair of glasses, and the normal turn around with our regular optician was 2 weeks. We got a copy of our prescription and took it to Lenscrafters in Emeryville (near Trader Joes) and got a new pair in 48 hours.

Go to Lenscrafter store, they have on-site service and same day glass.
