Physical Therapist for Chronic Back Pain

I have had chronic back pain for the past 5 years (herniated disc, L4 and L5) and I'm currently having a flare-up. I've tried countless modalities over the years (chiro, acupuncture, rolfing, etc), and I've especially gotten some benefit from physical therapy. Does anyone have a great PT to recommend in the East Bay? Thank you!

I'm so sorry you are experiencing this, I'm in the same position and also looking for a new PT at some point just not now.

Recently I've gone back to the basics of wearing a brace more regularly (especially with flare-ups) and treating the flare up with a combination of a large ice pack and alternating with infrared heating pad with good relief even if short-lived.

Wishing you all the best

Allan Horwitz, P.T. at Berkeley Physical Therapy, helped my lower back pain better than any other P.T. I worked with.

My wife and I are in our late 70's and have some pain issues due to various problems as a result of previous physical accidents and joint replacements. A good friend of ours who has pain due to a deformed hip recommended her PT to us. We both have been seeing her for about a year and have had excellent results in reducing and/or eliminating our discomfort. My wife recent had a flare-up in her knee as her replacement was causing her pain. She took narcotics for a few days but it still bothered her so she called Alex to make an appointment. After she returned home my wife said that her pain was greatly reduced and was gone by the evening. It has not come back since. Her name is Alex Threadgill-Inouye and she can be reached at 510-610-2256. Her office space is in Berkeley near Whole Foods. She is very friendly and competent and we appreciate that she takes such good care of us.
