Pet-friendly artificial turf installation
Hello all - we recently got a puppy who loves to dig dig dig!! Most of our yard is flagstone patio, but he’s been digging up the portion that is mostly dirt and patchy groundcover. It’s a pretty small space (12’ x 12’), so we were thinking of putting in artificial turf.
Does anyone have recommendations for turf installation companies? Or horror stories about dog pee on artificial turf? My plan was to hose the pee down and hopefully that would mitigate any potential smells…

Hi, We did turf in our backyard (we have a dog who was a puppy at the time of installation) and 2 boys, and it has been AMAZING. Always available, never muddy, the ultimate play space. We had it installed by Joe and his team at GreenPoint turf and paver company (www.GreenPointTurfAndPaver.com) who were professional, fast, and have an excellent selection. It wasn't "cheap" but it's been 3 years now and is holding up beautifully. Make sure you get the gopher wire installed under the turf :) As for dog pee - yeah, he pees on it. We hose it down regularly. It can smell a little in the hot sun, but then we hose it down and it's fine. You can also rinse it periodically w/ a pet-pee enzyme solution or vinegar and that takes care of it as well.
