Oakland or Berkeley Kaiser primary care search
Hello! Does anyone know if there is a way to be assigned a new Kaiser PCP when there are no PCP's currently accepting new patients in Oakland or Berkeley medical offices? My prior Kaiser PCP moved and I was randomly assigned a new PCP - but I would prefer to have some options in deciding who to see. Member help services recommended searching Kaiser's website daily to see if spots open up, but that seems unnecessarily onerous.
Thanks for any advice or experience!

I recently changed PCP at Kaiser, and had to check back on the website every day or every other day for a week or two to find someone I felt would be a good fit for me. The providers listed as taking new patients really does change every day! It really wasn't that onerous. Treat it like any other online hunt :) The other way you could do it would be to schedule an in-person visit for a given issue with a provider you would potentially like to have as your PCP, and then ask them in-person at the visit if they would consider adding you to their panel. From a providers perspective, this is probably not the preferred method, but that's how we ended up with the best Pediatrician :)
I haven't tried this myself, but I recently heard that Member Services can put you on the waitlist of your preferred Kaiser doctor, and that the waitlist moves fairly quickly. Hope this helps!
I have found that if you look on the first day of the month (or just at the beginning of the Mo th generally), there are more providers with open panels.
