Moving from Berkeley to Davis
Our family has decided to move to Davis, in time for our kid to start the next school year at DJUSD. (Past BPN discussions actually planted this seed a while back.) I've been told there's a Davis Parents group on Facebook, but having been off Facebook for over 10 years (with no desire to rejoin), I'm wondering if there are parents still in the BPN community who have made the same move in recent years. Could you message me / may we connect over email? We've learned a lot about Davis from BPN, Reddit, and the realtors/parents we've encountered during our home search, but I'd love to connect with Berkeley-to-Davis parents if there are any reading this—to hear your own impressions of the schools (and how the districts compare), what has surprised you about living in Davis, what you miss about Berkeley (the food, I imagine!), etc.
It's not official yet, but we're likely moving to West Davis or just east of 113 (and enrolling our child at hopefully Patwin or Willett, respectively). Thanks!

Hi --
I moved with my two young children from Oakland to Davis and eventually moved back to the Bay Area about 6 years ago. So it's been a while and I have no current info, but I'm glad to share my experiences if that would be of use. We lived primarily in S. Davis. Jan
I moved from Sonoma County to Davis in 2014 for the public school system for my son, and I'm glad I made the move. My best friend lives in Berkeley, so I get there frequently and feel I have some I idea of what you would be giving up and definitely understand what you would be gaining. I really like the warm weather, great school system, abundance of summer camps and after school options, friendly educated community, and the ability to bike everywhere easily (I rarely use my car in town) in Davis. I'm happy to chat with you.
