Kensington Hilltop Elementary School
We are moving to east bay and decided to move to albany or berkeley for elementary schools but rent is just out of our budget. I am wondering how is kensington hilltop elemenatry school compare to albany or berkeley schools. Also is there any other city I should look into it?

Hilltop is an amazing school. I can't compare it to Albany and Berkeley schools because my kids didn't go to those schools. But we couldn't be happier with Hilltop. If you choose Berkeley, you have no idea what school you're going to get because it's a lottery. I prefer WCCUSD where you get to send your kid to the neighborhood school unless that school is full.
I'd be surprised, however, if rents in Kensington are less than they are in Berkeley or Albany. Kensington is a very nice hill town filled with single family homes. There are no bad areas and very few apartments. Albany and Berkeley both have neighborhoods in the flats that are not as nice and probably not that expensive. I'm always surprised to hear people who think that Kensington is a cheaper alternative to our neighbors when a starter home here is nearly $1M.
