Kaiser rheumatology recs
Hello,
I have been recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and am pretty devastated. Would really appreciate any recommendations for Kaiser rheumatologists in the east bay, or I would drive further if needed. Thx.

Dr. Chen at Kaiser Oakland is a fantastic rheumatologist.
I had an appointment with Dr. Chen two years ago to screen for rheumatoid arthritis after some lab tests for an unrelated issue pointed in that direction. I found her to be extremely gentle and kind, personable and friendly, very thorough in listening to and understanding my medical history, very good at explaining what she was looking for during the exam and what her observations were. I think she is a wonderful doctor and I recommend her highly.
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It was rather upsetting for me also when I was diagnosed. My rheumatologist is Patty Chen at Kaiser Oakland. She is very nice. She is also very much an advocate for medication. Wait times to see her can be around month out. Feel free to message me with any questions.

I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have had the disease for going on 35 years. I am seeing Dr. Patty Chen at Kaiser Oakland. She is really, really good. I switched to kaiser because I couldn't find a good non Kaiser rheumatologist in the east bay. My understanding is that there are other good rheumatologists at Kaiser Oakland as well, but I am very happy with Dr. Chen.
