ISO Updated feedback on Albany Middle School

Can you please share what you think of the academic rigor and quality of Albany Middle School classes and the learning environment? My kids truly enjoy learning and being challenged. Many posts from the past say it is overcrowded and chaotic and the math is behind or slow. Thank you for sharing.

AMS 8th grade parent here. My student is having a very good year academically. We're happy with all this year's teachers except two, and they are not in core subjects. I find AMS to have a high standard for "average" and my student hasn't told me about any problems with classroom management, rowdy kids, etc. Early on this school year, they did have to limit access to the bathrooms thanks to that stupid TikTok vandalism challenge, but i believe that was the case at most junior highs. The chaotic time, and that might be an overstatement, is 20 minutes at lunch when all the grades overlap. Apparently it's hard to find a seat, and long food lines, during that window. My student has figured out their routine and isn't bothered by this any more.

I'm particularly happy with this year's math teacher and curriculum. I feel like it's the first time my student has actually been taught mathematical concepts as well as study skills, soft skills like perseverance, etc. AMS is one of the few schools that still offers an advanced math for 8th grade and it's been awesome for my student. You have to be invited to take it based on a year's worth of monthly test scores. Basically, math is the strongest part of 8th grade at AMS in our opinion.
