hypnosis or other therapy for mindful eating/weight loss

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here has had success with any sort of therapy to help with mindful eating, like hypnosis or something similar.  My weight has bounced around a lot in my adult life, and when I really focus on only eating when hungry, it really helps, but then life gets stressful again...  I'm battling with the subconscious drive to eat as a response to every emotion!  I know this is common, and wondering if anyone has found help with reducing mindless calorie intake.  Thanks!

New responses are no longer being accepted.

You've identified that you use food to cope with difficult emotions, which is good to know.  When people are trying to curb emotional eating, they often mistakenly think that the solution is to somehow stop their behavior, but this never works long term, because it doesn't deal with the root cause of the issue.  If you want to stop emotional eating you need to identify different coping techniques, and practice using them.  It's not a quick fix.  It will take time and effort, and you'll most likely need a good therapist to help you.
