Holy Names High School

My daughter has applied to Holy Names High School for 9th grade. The information here is pretty dated. Are there any current Holy Names High School parents on BPN to give their honest opinion about the school? She is VERY excited to attend school here and decision day can’t get here fast enough. As a parent what do you think? Is your daughter happy and thriving here? Tell me what you love. Tell me what you don’t. Are the parents a community as well? Do you all get along well? Is parent participation welcomed? Is there a Parent Teacher organization of some kind. I am also anxiously awaiting the “email” to see if she was accepted. Friday the 18th can’t get here fast enough :-)

RE:

My child doesn't attend Holy Names but she did apply two years ago as an 8th grader and she has a few former schoolmates who are now attending.  As a parent going through the application process, I was really impressed by the school and the warm, close-knit community.  Not to mention that the school buildings are fabulous and create a wonderful connection to history.  Ultimately, the school wasn't the right fit for my child, who was looking for a much bigger school as well as competitive sports program, but if she had wanted to go I would have sent her in a heartbeat.  I went to a small all-girls high school on the east coast and loved it --  I was really able to be myself and get involved in all kinds of activities that I doubt I would have been willing to try in a bigger co-ed setting.  Of the former schoolmates who are now attending Holy Names, I hear they are really happy.  Good luck to you & your family!
