Glasses at Costco?

Hi everyone,  I'm hoping that someone can advise me on this.   I've already used up my lense allotment in my eyecare insurance for the year but need to get a new pair of everyday glasses.   I have an astigmatism and need progressives.  Has anyone gotten lenses from Costco that need to be precise?   What was your experience?    I've gotten computer glasses there but they are basically bi-focals, never progressives.   If I go to my usual optometrist, the lenses will cost close to $500. and I just can't afford that.

thank you!

My husband has bad eyes and a tricky prescription.  He's gotten his glasses from Costco twice and has been very happy with the results.

Jins optical can set you up with progressive & astigmatism for under $300. I get mine there, and they make it easy (but you need to come with prescription in hand). The store in SF near Union Square is currently open.

My husband, who has an astigmatism and needs strong corrections, purchased progressive lenses from Costco in Richmond last December. He has been very pleased with their fit and performance.

Costco is a great option for lenses.  They won't do used or tricky frames though.

Warbly Parker rates for lenses are very affordable.

Costco, wow. For nearly 6 years, that's the only place we've gone for glasses.  Dr. Nossoff, optometrist, is exception.  My glasses are made from his rather complicated RX.  Penney's --when it was thriving-- made my glasses twice:  The last time they confused my RX with someone else AND they put the right lens in the left side, etc.  Gawd.  We live in Davis now, but are about to see Dr. Nossoff for my husband's RX.

PS:  My husband has paid $$$ for his glasses.  But, now, because of my positive experience at Costco-- from the exam to fulfilling RX-- he's switching.

Yes, I have a prescription just like yours and Costco has been fine. Less than half the price of any other glasses I’ve had, and I don’t notice any difference in quality.

Hi there,

I just saw your message about getting glasses from Costco. I recently got my prescription glasses from Costco. I also have astigmatism. I’m very happy with my new glasses. I also got a pair of prescription sunglasses that have really helped me when driving. Luckily I got this done beginning of Feb, right before the pandemic, so I was able to go in and spend time selecting all my glasses. It was so much cheaper than the regular stores too. Hope this helps..

My last bifocals at the optometrist cost $750.  My newest bifocals from Zenni (zennioptical.com) cost $120.  That's with all the bells and whistles - blueblocker lenses that transition to grey outdoors and invisible bifocal.  It's a little anxiety-provoking to have to pick out frames on-line without ever trying them on, but the cost saving is totally worth it.  You can return for credit if you don't like them.

Zenni. I have astigmatism and progressives, and they are very very cheap, have been precise, and are stylish. You have to look under their featured collections though, otherwise there is too much choice. I got two regular glasses, and one polarized sunglasses, all for under $100 including shipping.

What about Zennit on line?

I had a second pair with progressive and are not too bad...

Check out Warby Parker! They are known for great quality and stylish glasses at a really affordable price (around $100) including the lenses.
