Dandruff - HELP!

Our 11 year old has developed pretty bad dandruff suddenly (hormones?) - we try not to use harsh chemicals - her dr. prescribed steroid cream - any good (and hopefully natural) alternatives that have worked on your kid?

We've been struggling with the same problem And we're willing to try anything!  We tried all the shampoos (both conventional from Safeway and the natural Whole Foods store variety of options).  In the end what helped was switching to a gentle shampoo & conditioner, I think it's called free & clear, and oiling the scalp daily.  This is a bit messy.  Our daughter with long hair shampoos and conditions at night and in the morning we oil her scalp pretty heavily with either apricot oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil, then we comb it through and pull her hair back in a pony tail or barrettes for the school day.  We didn't take her to the doc about it to be honest.  But her hairdresser also recommended purchasing an exfoliating shampoo, she said they're sold on Amazon.  We never ended up doing that but my daughter did start really heavily massaging her scalp with both the shampoo and conditioner and then being sure to rinse it out completely.  It took a couple weeks of doing this religiously to see improvement but it worked for us.  She has other skin issues though and there have been times when we had no choice but to just use the steroids for eczema, nothing natural would do the job sadly.  Hope your daughter gets better soon.  They're at that age where they are embarrassed easily.

My daughters and I are all prone to dandruff, and we use a shampoo from the Body Shop. It smells nice and is pretty mild, but has some salicylic acid that helps with the flaking. https://www.thebodyshop.com/en-us/hair/shampoo/ginger-scalp-care-shampo…;
